Day in the Life
Start your shift reviewing visual work instructions, then move to hands-on assembly of electro-mechanical and optoelectronic subassemblies. You will perform fine-pitch soldering under magnification on shielded cables and wires-to-host connections, integrate mechanical and electronic components, and verify each step against product specifications. Throughout the day you’ll operate hand and power tools, follow cleanroom and ESD-safe practices, and document quality checks to ensure every build meets exacting standards.
What You’ll Do
- Assemble electronic and mechanical products in accordance with specifications and visual aids.
- Execute precision soldering under magnification on shielded cable assemblies and wire terminations.
- Use a range of hand tools, power tools, and dedicated assembly equipment safely and effectively.
- Apply established quality procedures and workmanship standards (IPC-610) to every build.
- Maintain a clean, orderly workspace consistent with cleanroom expectations.
- Own the quality and accuracy of your work from start to finish.
Reporting & Collaboration
- Reports to: Supervisor / Manager
- Interfaces with inter-company personnel across functions to move work forward.
- People managed: None; may informally guide or direct others when needed.
Decision-Making & Impact
- Rely on experience and sound judgment to plan and complete varied, sometimes complex tasks.
- Tackle a wide range of assemblies and challenges with minimal guidance.
- Impact of error: Direct effect on product quality and downstream performance.
What You Bring
- Proficiency with soldering equipment and wires-to-host assembly work.
- Experience working in cleanroom environments and following ESD protocols.
- Strong grasp of industry concepts, practices, and procedures; excellent command of IPC-610 workmanship requirements.
- Exceptional attention to detail and clear communication skills.
- Adaptability in a fast-paced setting; creativity and latitude to resolve build challenges.
Background & Credentials
- High school diploma or GED, or equivalent work experience.
- Working knowledge of IPC standards.
- 3+ years in a related electronics/electro-mechanical assembly role.
- Optics experience preferred (e.g., assemblies involving lenses).
Core Proficiencies
- Soldering
- Mechanical Assembly
- High School / GED
Responsibilities and tasks may evolve; management may assign or reassign duties as business needs change.
