Precision Predictive Maintenance Technician

Your first 90 days: You start by mastering the line-up of assets. In weeks 1–3, you shadow and then lead expert break/fix responses—observing machines in motion to isolate faults, disassembling assemblies, inspecting parts, adjusting mechanisms, and validating repairs with electrical/mechanical testing while reconditioning machine tools when needed. By week 4, you’re partnering with the Planner/Scheduler to refine PM tasks and intervals. Weeks 5–8 bring deeper controls troubleshooting—resolving software, hardware, and configuration issues—while you roll out predictive data collection and trend analysis. By day 90, you’re leading CI events, mentoring teammates, and presenting insights from CMMS history and performance data to drive reliability.

How you’ll contribute

  • Independently execute maintenance to industry standards across diverse industrial equipment.
  • Source parts and supplies; compare alternatives to improve costs and reliability.
  • Operate lathes, drill presses, grinders, and other metalworking equipment to fabricate/repair components; perform welding when required.
  • Champion 5S and excellent housekeeping on every job.
  • Lead/participate in CI initiatives, using structured methodologies to deliver process improvements and savings.
  • Coach junior technicians and contribute expert knowledge to projects and training programs.
  • Leverage predictive technologies to capture performance data, spot trends, and recommend interventions.
  • Maintain accurate records, review CMMS history, and analyze asset data to inform maintenance strategies.
  • Commit to ongoing learning through OJT and self-study.
  • Adhere to safety rules, technical instructions, and best practices; maintain situational awareness to identify unsafe behaviors or conditions.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Associate technical degree plus 5 years of industry-specific experience, or 7 years of relevant industry experience.
  • Proficiency with predictive technologies, precision alignments, and process equipment maintenance.
  • Fluency in electrical, mechanical, fluid power, and control systems; able to analyze problems, develop alternatives, and complete repairs.
  • Skilled with basic hand tools and specialized instruments.
  • Experience in vibration analysis or laser interferometer operations, precision alignments, and maintenance of process equipment.
  • Ability to travel as required.

Physical demands and environment

Expect regular standing, walking, hand/finger use, reaching, climbing/ascending/descending or balancing at height (including on ladders or lifts), and stooping, kneeling, crouching, or crawling in confined spaces, as well as frequent talking and hearing. Sitting occurs occasionally. Lifting and/or moving more than 50 pounds may be required on occasion. Close and color vision are used regularly.
