Step into a Day on Our 1st Shift

It’s 6:55 a.m. You’re at your station, blueprint in hand. You power up the press brake, verify GD&T callouts, load the CNC laser program, and dial in tooling for the morning run. Parts move from laser to press brake to stamping, and you keep everything flowing—adjusting setups, inspecting with micrometers and calipers, and logging results as you go. When a machine hiccups, your mechanical know-how and hand tools come out—issue found, issue fixed, production back on track.

What You’ll Tackle

  • Operate and set up press brakes, CNC laser cutters, plasma cutters, and stamping presses to produce precise sheet metal components.
  • Read and interpret detailed blueprints, technical drawings, and GD&T specifications to execute accurate fabrication.
  • Program CNC equipment, including laser cutting systems, CNC lathes, milling machines, and electrical discharge machining (EDM) for complex work.
  • Assemble parts, adjust tooling, and troubleshoot machinery issues using hand tools and practical mechanical skills.
  • Perform in-process and final inspections with micrometers, calipers, and other precision measuring instruments; conduct visual checks for conformance.
  • Operate cranes and forklifts responsibly; follow all safety protocols around heavy equipment.
  • Document production with accurate shift reports and inspection logs to support traceability and continuous improvement.

What You’ll Bring

  • Hands-on experience running sheet metal equipment: press brakes, CNC laser cutters, plasma cutters, and/or stamping presses.
  • Strong blueprint reading ability and solid understanding of GD&T.
  • Skill in CNC programming/operation for milling machines, lathes, and laser systems; experience with EDM is a plus.
  • Mechanical aptitude, including use of hand tools, tooling setups, welding techniques, and general fabrication processes.
  • Knowledge of inspection practices using micrometers, calipers, and precision gauges.
  • Comfort working safely with cranes and forklifts (certification preferred) and other heavy equipment in a manufacturing setting.
  • Competence with shop math for measurements, machining tolerances, and process adjustments.
  • Familiarity with sheet metal standards and processes such as EDM, plasma cutting, and tooling management.
