Precision Sheet Metal TIG/MIG Welding Specialist

A day in this role

You start your day reviewing the job travelers and mechanical blueprints for the next build. With calipers and a tape in hand, you verify critical dimensions, plan your fit-up, and choose TIG or MIG based on alloy and thickness. By mid-morning, you’re laying precise beads—TIG on 0.030" aluminum for a tight, clean corner; MIG on 1/2" mild steel for strength and consistency. After lunch, you prep and finish welds, inspect your work against the drawings, and collaborate with teammates from other departments to keep parts moving. You close out by cleaning your work area and noting any improvements for the next run.

What you’ll do

• Fit and weld sheet metal assemblies using TIG (GTAW) and MIG (GMAW).
• Prep joints, execute welds, and perform finish work to spec.
• Deliver quality parts and verify conformance to drawings through inspection.
• Interpret and work from mechanical blueprints with confidence.
• Maintain a clean, safe, and organized workspace.
• Follow written procedures and verbal directions accurately.

What you bring

• 5–7 years of professional welding experience.
• GMAW proficiency from 18ga up to 1/2" mild steel.
• GTAW proficiency from 0.030" up to 1/2" aluminum and stainless.
• Solid understanding of weld fit-up processes.
• Comfort using calipers, tape measure, and other QC tools and equipment.
• Detail-oriented, punctual, collaborative, and able to take initiative.
• Strong communicator; comfortable discussing technical requirements with clients.
