Precision Swiss CNC Screw Machine Technician II

How you’ll contribute
Imagine starting your shift by reviewing a new router and print, validating the CNC program, and setting up a Swiss-type lathe to hit microns. As production runs, you monitor tool life, make thoughtful offsets, and verify features with precision gauges. You document everything with GMP/GDP rigor, escalate issues quickly, and keep the cell 5S-clean and safe.
Core responsibilities
- Set up and operate Swiss-type CNC machines to engineering drawings and control programs while holding tight tolerances.
- Execute complex machining across varied metals requiring exact precision.
- Replace worn tools and apply minor offsets/adjustments to sustain capability.
- Ensure quality through operator-owned quality (OOQ); interpret results from gauges and metrology equipment.
- Perform routine and preventive maintenance per daily checklists and PM schedules.
- Hand-finish parts to meet final spec.
- Follow GMP/GDP; complete all job routers/cards accurately.
- Promote safe work practices; report Safety, Health & Environmental issues.
- Meet productivity goals; suggest improvements to increase efficiency.
- Record all activities promptly in the job tracking system.
- Participate in Continuous Improvement, including 5S and problem-solving.
- Escalate issues to Team Leader/Supervisor and aid in corrective actions.
- Maintain housekeeping and organization to 5S standards.
- Perform other duties or special projects as assigned.
Qualifications
- High School diploma or GED required
- 3+ years of CNC machining experience
- Preferred: Associate’s degree/certificate in Tooling & Machining or a machinist apprenticeship
- Preferred: Production environment experience
- UK only: GCSE/NVQ Math and English desirable
