Step into a precision-driven day at Process Equipment & Controls (PEC)

At our Covington, Georgia facility, you’ll start your shift reviewing detailed blueprints and shop drawings, then move seamlessly into fabricating and TIG (GTAW) welding carbon steel, stainless steel, and aluminum. You’ll coordinate with the Shop Foreman to set priorities, lay out materials with accuracy, and bring custom components to life—from platforms and handrails to structural supports—while holding the line on safety, quality, and craftsmanship.

What your day looks like

  • Perform high-quality TIG (GTAW) welds on carbon steel, stainless steel, and aluminum.
  • Fabricate, fit, assemble, and weld metal components per engineering drawings, blueprints, weld symbols, and specifications.
  • Lay out, measure, mark, and prepare materials for fabrication with precision.
  • Coordinate daily activities and priorities with the Shop Foreman.
  • Inspect completed work to verify conformance with quality standards and customer specifications.
  • Operate shop equipment such as grinders, saws, drill presses, ironworkers, and related tools.
  • Assist with stairs, handrails, platforms, structural supports, and other miscellaneous metal projects.
  • Maintain a clean, orderly, and safe work area; follow PEC safety policies and OSHA regulations.
  • Support project deadlines by working efficiently without compromising workmanship.
  • Assist with loading, unloading, and moving materials throughout the shop.
  • Communicate effectively across teams and participate in continuous improvement efforts.

Required qualifications

  • Must be at least 18 years of age.
  • Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.
  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Minimum 2 years of TIG welding and fabrication experience.
  • Proficient in blueprint reading and layout work.
  • Strong knowledge of fabrication tools, equipment, and welding procedures.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
  • Solid math skills, including measurements, fractions, and geometry.
  • Professional, effective communication skills.
  • Ability to pass a pre-employment drug screening and background check.

Preferred background

  • 3+ years in industrial, structural, or miscellaneous metals fabrication.
  • Experience with stainless steel process piping, skids, platforms, handrails, stairs, and custom assemblies.
  • Working knowledge of AWS welding standards.
  • Experience with additional processes: GTAW (TIG), GMAW (MIG), FCAW (Flux Core), and SMAW (Stick).
  • Previous leadership or shop supervisory experience.
  • AWS welding certifications are a plus.
