    Description

    Precision Tooling Machinist (EDM/CNC)

    A day in the toolroom

You clock in, scan the work queue, and pull the day’s drawings. A complex extrusion die needs a tweak, a new fixture must be roughed and finished, and a set of gauges is due before end of shift. You load the Wire EDM, choose tooling, post a fresh CAD/CAM program, and chase tolerances measured in thousandths. Between cycles, you verify with micrometers and depth mics, mentor a newer teammate on a setup, and keep the shop tidy and safe. By the time you power down, the line has the tooling it needs—on spec and on time.

    What you will handle

    • Design, build, repair, and maintain tools, dies, jigs, gauges, fixtures, extrusion dies, and calibrators
    • Set up and operate Wire EDM (WEDM), CNC mills, and conventional/manual machines
    • Create and edit CNC programs using CAD/CAM software; post and prove out programs at the machine
    • Interpret blueprints and specifications to produce components to tight tolerances
    • Use precision metrology tools, including calipers, micrometers, and depth micrometers
    • Meet deadlines while ensuring accuracy, fit, and finish of all tooling
    • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe toolroom environment
    • Support and follow the Quality Management System (QMS)
    • Participate in safety training and ongoing upskilling
    • Coach and support newer or developing shop teammates
    • Drive a positive culture and continuous improvement efforts
    • Pitch in with additional tasks as needed to help the team
