Picture your day: you review a drawing, choose the workholding and cutters, decide speeds and feeds, write or tweak the code at the control or in Mastercam, dial in the setup on a mill or lathe, and run the first piece. While one spindle is cutting, you’re staging the next job so nothing sits idle. You verify every critical feature with your own gauges and hold tight tolerances without breaking a sweat. When chatter shows up or tool life dips, you troubleshoot at the machine and keep production on track. You cap the day by sharing a technique with an apprentice. That’s the rhythm here.
What You’ll Own
Take parts from print to finished piece: plan the process, program, set up, and run.
Create and edit CNC programs at the control and/or in CAM (Mastercam or comparable).
Independently complete setups on CNC mills and lathes with minimal supervision.
Keep multiple machines productive—run parts while staging and setting up the next job.
Select tooling, workholding, fixturing, and dial in speeds/feeds for quality and efficiency.
Build, repair, and modify tooling, fixtures, dies, and gauges.
Hold close tolerances and self-verify using mics, calipers, indicators, and gauges.
Troubleshoot issues at the machine: chatter, tool life, finish, and dimensional accuracy.
Help train apprentices and pass along best practices to the team.
What You Bring
5+ years in CNC machining and/or tool & die.
Ability to work directly from a print—strong blueprint reading and GD&T.
Programming proficiency: conversational, G-code at the control, and/or CAM (Mastercam a plus).
Proven setup skills on both mills and lathes; wire EDM or grinding experience is a plus.
Comfortable holding +/- 0.001" and tighter when required.
Track record of running multiple machines simultaneously.
Reliable, safety-first mindset, and pride in craftsmanship.
