Precision Turn/Mill Machinist, Aerospace Gears
Do you turn complex prints into flawless parts? TekPro is partnering with a top-tier producer of aerospace and defense power transmission components to hire 2 precision CNC lathe machinists. If you enjoy leading setups, editing code at the control, and solving problems across multiple machine brands in a modern, 150,000 sq. ft., air-conditioned facility, this is your next step.
Challenge
You’re handed a work order with tight GD&T, OP. drawings, and a quality plan. From selecting jaws and tooling to proving out the first article, you own the process—measuring, adjusting, and refining until repeatability is locked in.
What You’ll Do
- Study work orders, blueprints, engineering/quality plans, materials, specs, OP. drawings; interpret GD&T.
- Set three- and four-jaw chucks; mount tools and attachments; load stock and set feeds.
- Perform turning, facing, knurling, threading (thread chasing), drilling, and grooving operations.
- Inspect first-run and sample parts; verify all settings against the OP. drawing and quality plan.
- Troubleshoot: measure, detect malfunctions, edit programs, adjust offsets/parameters, and replace worn tooling.
- Follow quality and safety procedures rigorously; maintain equipment via preventive maintenance and arrange repairs.
- Log production and quality results; communicate across shifts for seamless continuity.
- Keep learning—training, technical reading—and proactively find ways to add value.
Qualifications
- 2+ years operating CNC lathes and mills.
- Proficient reading mechanical drawings; strong grasp of GD&T and basic math.
- Program editing experience; comfortable with several machine brands.
- Proficiency in G-Code and machine setups for production runs.
- Plus: DMG/Mori Seiki NT4300/1500 turn/mill experience.
- Plus: exposure to gear manufacturing.
Machines You’ll Use
- CNC Lathe (2–4 axis)
- CNC Lathe (5+ axis)
Impact
Your work directly supports flight-critical components for aerospace and defense platforms, where precision, safety, and reliability come first.
