Position Overview

We are seeking a Preconstruction Detailer to join our team. The Preconstruction Detailer is responsible for leading the Prefabrication and Virtual Design & Construction (VDC) team. This role bridges the gap between design, preconstruction, and field operations by translating construction documents and design intent into constructible, field-ready models and prefabrication plans.

Key Responsibilities

  • Leads and manages Prefabrication and Virtual Design & Construction (VDC) team.

  • Collaborate with project managers, field leadership, engineers, and VDC teams to ensure coordinated and buildable designs.

  • Creates prefabrication drawings and kits to support modular and off-site construction.

  • Develops 3D models for electrical system layouts, routing, and equipment placement.

  • Interprets construction drawings, specifications, and models to create detailed electrical installation layouts and prefabrication plans.

  • Identifies constructability issues and proactively proposes solutions to improve efficiency and reduce rework.

  • Allocates manpower, tools, and equipment to optimize project productivity.

  • Mentors and trains prefabrication and VDC teams, promoting professional development and technical growth.

  • Resolves conflicts and addresses issues to maintain a productive and positive work environment.

  • Participates in project planning meetings, offering insights to enhance project outcomes.

  • Implements industry best practices and company standards, to ensure project efficiency and customer satisfaction.

  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Minimum:

  • High school diploma or GED.

  • Ten (10) years of experience in the electrical construction industry, with leadership experience.

  • Valid driverÕs license and reliable transportation.

Preferred:

  • Technical training or coursework in drafting, BIM, or construction technology preferred.

  • Experience with budget management and resource allocation.

  • Experience managing multiple mid- to- large scale electrical projects.

OR an equivalent combination of education, certification, and experience that results in the successful performance of the job. Additional education may substitute for required experience on one-for-one year basis or vice versa.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Strong knowledge of NEC, local electrical codes, and field construction practices.

  • Knowledge of prefabrication workflows, modular assemblies, and field installation methods.

  • Knowledge of electrical systems, construction methods, and industry regulations.

  • Knowledge of project management techniques, including scheduling, budgeting, and workforce planning.

  • Skill in reading and interpreting blueprints, schematics, and construction documents.

  • Skill in leadership, supervision, and motivating teams to meet project goals.

  • Ability to make sound decisions under pressure and adapt to changing project demands.

  • Ability to maintain compliance with safety regulations and enforce best practices.

  • Ability to coordinate and communicate effectively across multiple teams.

Work Environment

  • Heavy work environment. Continuous indoor and outdoor work with heavy exposure to extreme physical, ergonomic, and/or emotional hazardous environment. Work requires lifting 50 pounds or more and wearing protective equipment; exposure to extreme weather, noise, hazard; requiring climbing, crawling, lying, and working under pressure.
