Job Summary:

 

Perform Maintenance duties as necessary in Maintenance and Predictive Maintenance to ensure service to dairy processing and packaging equipment and auxiliary equipment.

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Analyzes mechanical problems of dairy processing and packaging equipment, and auxiliary equipment. (Includes assisting manufacturing personnel on process related problems.)
  • Possesses shop equipment knowledge and ability to operate Welder, Metal Lathe, Drill Press, ETC.
  • Must have working knowledge and demonstrated skill in the use of all hand tools as they relate to industrial equipment maintenance.
  • Troubleshoots and monitors plant equipment and utility systems.
  • Assists machine operators in determining when the machine should be shut down due to mechanical or electrical problems.
  • Performs established preventative maintenance procedures on plant equipment and completes appropriate documentation.
  • Maintains inventory and requisition replacement parts required for maintenance activities.
  • Executes assigned projects under the direction of the maintenance coordinator.
  • Performs all work in a timely and professional manner, including follow-up to ensure work was completed satisfactorily.
  • Continues education as related to job skills - must stay current with technology.
  • Works overtime as needed during breakdowns and scheduled maintenance, including possible call-in for emergency situations.
  • Maintains accurate and complete daily record of work performed in the CMMS.
  • Maintains a clean and safe work environment.
  • Abides by and practices all GMP’s, safety standards, environmental regulations, and company policies.

 

Predictive Maintenance (PDM) Responsibilities

  • Coordinate with Operations, Engineering, and Maintenance teams to prioritize reliability improvements focusing on equipment OEE.
  • Perform and document predictive maintenance inspections and condition-monitoring activities on production equipment.
  • Utilize predictive technologies such as vibration analysis, infrared thermography, ultrasonic testing, oil analysis, laser alignment, and other reliability tools to identify potential equipment failures.
  • Assist the Coordinator in the development of predictive based technologies and preventative work orders to maximize equipment reliability.
  • Support in the identification of new/novel predictive maintenance technology. Supports pilot programs to implement emerging technology and replicates across areas of responsibility.
  • Helps in the development of procedures and practices to use testing equipment such as laser alignment, vibration analysis, infrared analysis, leak detection, lubrication failure modes…etc.
  • Assists in the development and planning and scheduling for all predictive work orders assigned within the entire plant.
  • Participate in root cause investigations and continuous improvement projects to enhance equipment performance.
  • Execute assigned projects under the direction of the Predictive Maintenance Coordinator and dotted line to Maintenance Management.
  • Assists PDM Coordinator in leading the HP Hood network-wide communication to share pilot programs and best practices for Predictive Maintenance.
  • Assist in training team members with predictive maintenance techniques and best practices.
  • Perform any additional duties assigned by management

 

 

Education and Experience

  • GED or High School Diploma.
  • At least 3+ years experience in manufacturing.
  • Prior experience in industrial maintenance.

Skills and Competencies

  • Intermediate Computer Skill (i.e. Word, Excel, etc).
  • Excellent Troubleshooting Experience.
  • Ability to work well with people.
  • Good Communication skills.
  • Ability to multitask.
  • Ability to work independently.

 

Physical Requirements:

  • Standing: Long periods (a minimum of 8+ hours)
  • Sitting: Occasionally for short periods
  • Walking: Long periods
  • Bending: Frequently
  • Lifting: Heavy (50+ lbs) frequently
  • Carrying: Heavy (40-60 lbs) frequently
  • Distance Pushing/Pulling: under 75 lbs without assistance frequently

 

Performance Standards:

  • Comply with performance criteria, standards of conduct, employment procedures and responsibilities as described in the HP Hood Guidebook and applicable site supplement.
  • Adhere to all safety and environmental protocols, procedures and training. Maintain a safe work environment at all times and immediately report and take appropriate action to correct safety concerns.
  • Comply with all Good Manufacturing Practices, including GMP dress code standards.
  • Responsible for reporting to work in a condition to work at scheduled times and communicating tardiness and absences according to the Call-Off Procedure and Attendance Policy.

 

SQF (Safe Quality Food) Requirements/Responsibilities:

  • Adhere to all food safety and food quality requirements as well as the regulatory authorities with jurisdiction over our products and processes.
  • Maintain food safety and food quality through completing job tasks and maintaining the work area in a sanitary manner.
  • Report food safety problems to personnel with authority to initiate action.

Environmental Concerns:

  • May be subject to exposure to ingredients used in the manufacture of food products including allergens.
  • May be subject to exposure to chemicals involved in the manufacture and sanitation of a food processing facility.

Exact compensation may vary based on skills, experience and location.

The pay range for this position is

$36.64 - $39.01USD
