Description

Join Our Team as a Prefabrication Manager!

Slifco Electric
is a premier electrical contracting firm serving the Automotive, Heavy Industrial, and Mission Critical sectors. We specialize in both ground-up construction and major renovations, managing electrical packages ranging from small service work to multi-million-dollar installations.

Slifco Electric is seeking a highly organized and driven Prefabrication Manager to lead the daily operations of our growing Prefabrication Department. This individual will oversee the planning, production, quality, scheduling, and continuous improvement of all prefabrication activities while working closely with Project Managers, BIM/VDC, Purchasing, Field Operations, and Executive Leadership.

The Prefab Manager plays a critical role in ensuring work packages are designed, assembled, quality checked, and delivered accurately and on schedule to support efficient field installation. This position requires strong communication, leadership, technical knowledge of electrical construction, and a commitment to process improvement.

What You'll Be Doing:

  • Lead the daily operations of the Prefabrication Department, ensuring work packages are produced safely, efficiently, on schedule, and in accordance with company standards.
  • Review project contracts, specifications, drawings, and BIM/VDC models to identify prefabrication opportunities and ensure work packages are accurate, complete, and installation-ready.
  • Collaborate with Project Managers, Estimators, VDC/BIM, Purchasing, and Field Operations to develop effective work packaging strategies that maximize productivity and support successful project execution.
  • Oversee QA/QC by ensuring all prefabricated assemblies meet company standards before shipment and comply with project requirements.
  • Manage shop production schedules, labor utilization, staffing, and production tracking, monitoring key performance metrics to improve efficiency, throughput, and overall shop performance.
  • Ensure the shop is properly equipped and organized by maintaining adequate manpower, tools, equipment, materials, and safe packaging and shipping processes for field delivery.
  • Conduct regular project site visits to verify prefab assemblies are installed as designed, gather field feedback, identify improvement opportunities, and strengthen collaboration between shop and field teams.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives by developing standardized prefab details, refining fabrication processes, implementing Lean Construction principles, and expanding prefabrication capabilities, including welding, powder coating, UL-listed assemblies, and emerging technologies.
  • Lead, mentor, and develop Prefabrication Shop personnel, fostering a culture of accountability, safety, teamwork, communication, and operational excellence.
  • Serve as the company's prefabrication subject matter expert, providing leadership in planning meetings, coordinating priorities across multiple projects, communicating progress with stakeholders, and continuously identifying opportunities to improve project execution and prefabrication performance.

What We're Looking For:

  • 5+ years of experience in electrical construction, manufacturing, or prefabrication.
  • Previous supervisory or leadership experience.
  • Strong understanding of commercial, industrial, or mission-critical electrical systems.
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical drawings, specifications, and shop drawings.
  • Experience working with BIM/VDC coordination or prefabrication processes.
  • Strong organizational and communication skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
Preferred:
  • Experience with Lean Manufacturing or Lean Construction principles.
  • Knowledge of production tracking software (Trello, Procore, Autodesk Construction Cloud, or similar).
  • Experience working with fabrication equipment and shop operations.
  • OSHA 30 Certification.
  • Journeyman Electrician or equivalent field experience.

Why You'll Love Working Here:

  • Opportunity to support complex and large-scale electrical construction projects.
  • Collaborative, team-oriented environment.
  • Stable and growing organization.
  • Opportunities for professional growth and advancement.

Benefits:
  • Competitive Compensation
  • Company Paid Health Insurance (Medical/Dental/Vision)
  • IRA Including Company Match
  • PTO & Paid Company Holidays
  • Employee Referral Program
