JOB TITLE: Early Childhood Instructional Aide LENGTH OF WORK YEAR: 187 days
REPORTS TO: Principal PAY GRADE: Paraprofessional 030

A Letter of Assurance will be issued for this position.
PRIMARY PURPOSE: Assist the classroom teacher in providing for the physical and instructional
needs of students. Assist in the implementation of classroom programs, including self-help, behavior management, and instruction. Work under the general supervision of the principal and the immediate direction of a certified teacher.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:

Assist teachers in providing modified instruction for ESL students in inclusive settings
Assist with the administration and scoring of objective testing instruments or work
assignments

Keep the teacher informed of any special needs or problems of individual students
Assist in keeping administrative records and preparing required reports
Assist in preparing instructional materials and classroom displays
Assist in maintaining a neat and orderly classroom
Assist in inventory, care, and maintenance of classroom equipment
Participate in staff development training programs, faculty meetings, and special events, as
required
Early Childhood Instructional Aide -2
Provide orientation and assistance to substitute teachers
Serve as an interpreter in situations when one is needed
Assist students with activities of personal care which can including diapering, toileting,
and/or dressing

Maintain emotional control under stress
Frequent movement from one classroom to another
Frequent standing, stooping, bending
May be required to lift up to 30 pounds without assistance
Safety: Contribute to the prevention of accidents and injuries by observing safety rules and
District policy, practicing the principles and skills taught in safety training, wearing personal
protective equipment as required, reporting injuries and incidences immediately to supervisor, and
being proactive in the ongoing efforts to improve and maintain workplace safety.
