Position Summary
Fillmore Elementary School is seeking a caring, dependable, and student-centered PreK Instructional Aide to support our early childhood education program. The ideal candidate will assist the classroom teacher in providing a safe, nurturing, and engaging learning environment that promotes the academic, social, emotional, and physical development of preschool-aged children.
Position Details
- Position: PreK Instructional Aide
- Location: Fillmore Elementary School
- Schedule: 28.5 hours per week
- Compensation: Starting at $12.67 per hour, with the opportunity to qualify for an additional $1.50 per hour based on program requirements and eligibility.
- Reports To: Building Principal and PreK Classroom Teacher
Essential Responsibilities
- Assist the classroom teacher in implementing daily instructional activities and learning centers.
- Support individual students and small groups to reinforce academic and developmental skills.
- Foster a positive, inclusive, and nurturing classroom environment.
- Help supervise children during classroom activities, meals, recess, field trips, and transitions.
- Assist with classroom organization, preparation of instructional materials, and maintenance of learning spaces.
- Observe student behavior and communicate concerns or progress to the classroom teacher.
- Support students in developing independence, social-emotional skills, and positive behavior.
- Assist with personal care needs as appropriate while maintaining student dignity and confidentiality.
- Follow all school safety procedures and health guidelines.
- Build positive relationships with students, families, and staff.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the classroom teacher or principal.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Experience working with young children is preferred.
- Ability to communicate effectively with children, families, and colleagues.
- Demonstrated patience, flexibility, and a positive attitude.
- Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team.
- Ability to lift up to 40 pounds and actively engage with young children throughout the school day.
- Must successfully complete all required background checks and meet Indiana employment requirements.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in an early childhood or preschool setting.
- CPR/First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain).
- Knowledge of child development and developmentally appropriate practices.
