    JOB VACANCY: Pre-Kindergarten Teacher

    POSITION OVERVIEW

    Morehouse Magnet School is seeking a highly qualified, nurturing, and student-centered Pre-Kindergarten Teacher to provide developmentally appropriate instruction and learning experiences that support school readiness and early childhood development.

    The successful candidate will create a safe, engaging, and inclusive learning environment that fosters the cognitive, language, literacy, social-emotional, physical, and creative development of young children. The teacher will implement Louisiana Department of Education (LDOE) early childhood standards, utilize evidence-based instructional practices, and promote active family engagement to ensure students are prepared for kindergarten and future academic success.

    EMPLOYMENT DETAILS

    Contract Term: Full-Time, 9-Month Contract

    Salary: In accordance with the Morehouse Parish School District Teacher Salary Schedule and applicable state guidelines.

    MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

    • Bachelor''s Degree from an accredited college or university.
    • Valid Louisiana Teaching Certificate with appropriate Early Childhood or Elementary certification or eligibility through an

    approved pathway.

    • Meets all LDOE and BESE certification requirements.
    • Knowledge of child development and age-appropriate instructional practices.
    • Knowledge of Louisiana Birth to Five Early Learning and Development Standards.
    • Strong communication, classroom management, organizational, and interpersonal skills.

    PREFERRED

    • Early Childhood Education Certification (PK-3) preferred.
    • Previous successful teaching experience in Pre-K or early childhood settings.
    • Experience implementing evidence-based literacy, language, and numeracy practices.
    • Knowledge of Louisiana Early Childhood accountability expectations.
    • Experience with Teaching Strategies GOLD or similar assessment systems.
    • Additional early childhood endorsements preferred.

    KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

    1. Plan and deliver developmentally appropriate instruction aligned with Louisiana Birth to Five Early Learning and Development Standards.

    2. Create and maintain a safe, nurturing, engaging, and inclusive classroom environment.

    3. Implement evidence-based instructional strategies supporting literacy, language, numeracy, and social-emotional development.

    4. Establish classroom routines that foster independence and self-regulation.

    5. Differentiate instruction to meet the needs of all learners.

    6. Conduct developmental screenings, observations, and assessments.

    7. Utilize assessment data to guide instructional planning.

    8. Promote kindergarten readiness through intentional, play-based learning.

    9. Maintain positive communication with families.

    10. Collaborate with administrators, teachers, interventionists, and support personnel.

    11. Implement district-approved curriculum and assessment practices.

    12. Maintain accurate student records and documentation.

    13. Participate in PLCs, professional development, and school improvement initiatives.

    14. Support PBIS and positive school culture initiatives.

    15. Maintain confidentiality in accordance with FERPA.

    16. Maintain a professional growth plan.

    17. Perform other duties as assigned.

    PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT

    The employee must regularly sit, stand, walk, bend, stoop, kneel, crouch, and reach throughout the workday; supervise and interact with young children; lift and carry classroom materials weighing up to 25 pounds; utilize technology and office equipment; communicate effectively; and respond appropriately during emergencies.
