Preop Nurse – Per Diem

This occupational health surgical center focuses on caring for patients recovering from work-related injuries. The practice relies on a flexible, on-demand clinical team to staff surgical cases and recovery care as needs arise, and is building a dependable bench of clinicians who want steady, well-supported per-diem work.

The Preop Nurse prepares patients for surgery - verifying readiness, starting IVs, reviewing charts, and ensuring every patient is safe and informed before entering the OR.

• Complete patient intake, chart review, and pre-operative assessment.
• Start IVs and prepare patients per surgical protocol.
• Verify consents, history, and physician orders are complete and accurate.
• Provide pre-operative patient education and address questions or concerns.
• Communicate patient status and readiness to the surgical team.
• Maintain a calm, efficient preop area under time pressure.

• Active state RN license in good standing.
• Current BLS certification (ACLS preferred).
• Strong IV insertion skills; preop or ambulatory surgery experience preferred.
• Comfortable working independently in a fast-paced, short-notice environment.

• Shifts are typically posted the evening before, often for an early-morning (around 7:30 AM) start.
• Most shifts run up to 8 hours; some are shorter, targeted evening shifts (5:00 PM 9:00 PM), which are especially welcomed.
• A break is provided before the shift concludes.
• Shift availability varies by day - clinicians who can flex across the week have the best access to open shifts.

• All PPE and shift-specific supplies are provided on-site - no need to bring your own equipment.
• A supportive, experienced surgical and clinical team.
• Clear shift expectations communicated in advance.

Competitive, per-shift pay - rate is confirmed at the time each shift is posted and accepted.
