At Lawson's Finest, our Kitchen Team helps bring the vibe of our taproom and local ingredients to life. They have a love for food, locally sourced ingredients, and the magic of creating something delicious from scratch. From maintaining an exceptionally clean and organized workspace to supporting kitchen operations proactively, this person takes pride in helping create an outstanding experience for guests.
This position reports to our Kitchen Manager + Chef and plays a vital role in maintaining the heartbeat of our Taproom's beer, food and hospitality culture.

Primary Responsibilities:

Food Preparation and Production
- Prepare ingredients according to established recipes, preparation guides, and food safety standards.
- Wash, peel, chop, dice, portion, and store vegetables, fruits, proteins, and other ingredients.
- Assist in preparing sauces, dressings, soups, sandwiches, salads, and other menu items as directed.
- Assemble and package food items for service according to quality and presentation standards.
- Accurately label, date, and rotate food products using First In, First Out (FIFO) inventory practices.
- Monitor freshness and quality of food products and notify management of any concerns.
- Maintain organized and fully stocked prep stations throughout shifts.
- Assist culinary team members during busy service periods as needed.
- Follow all recipe specifications to ensure consistency and quality.
Dishwashing and Cleaning
- Operate commercial dishwashing equipment safely and efficiently.
- Wash, rinse, sanitize, dry, and store dishes, glassware, utensils, cookware, and kitchen tools.
- Ensure all equipment meets sanitation standards before returning to service.
- Maintain adequate inventory of clean dishes and kitchen tools throughout operating hours.
- Regularly clean sinks, dish stations, floors, walls, shelving, drains, and kitchen equipment.
- Empty trash and recycling receptacles and transport waste to designated disposal areas.
- Clean and sanitize restocking containers, food storage bins, and prep equipment.
Kitchen Organization and Maintenance
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe kitchen environment at all times.
- Sweep, mop, and sanitize kitchen floors throughout shifts and at closing.
- Assist with opening, closing, and deep-cleaning procedures.
- Restock kitchen supplies, paper products, cleaning chemicals, and food items as needed.
- Receive, inspect, and properly store deliveries according to company standards.
- Report equipment malfunctions, maintenance needs, or safety concerns promptly.
- Support inventory counts and organization of storage areas, walk-ins, coolers, and freezers.
Food Safety and Compliance
- Adhere to all local, state, and federal food safety regulations.
- Maintain compliance with company sanitation and workplace safety standards.
- Follow proper procedures for handling allergens and preventing cross-contamination.
- Use cleaning chemicals safely and according to manufacturer guidelines.
- Wear appropriate personal protective equipment and maintain a professional appearance.
- Participate in food safety and workplace safety training programs.
Teamwork and Culture
- Foster a positive, respectful, and collaborative work environment.
- Communicate effectively with kitchen and front-of-house team members.
- Support coworkers during busy periods and assist where needed.

Requirements & Expectations:
- Based in our Waitsfield, Vermont Taproom
- Weekend Availability is Required
- Willingness to work holidays, nights and weekends as a regular work schedule
- Highly organized individual with a keen attention to detail and effective communication skills
- Ability to understand and meet restaurant standards for health, safety, and excellence
- Ability to remain alert and focused in an environment that is noisy and fast-paced
- Ability to work effectively with kitchen staff
- Physically capable of a variety of duties including but not limited to repeated lifting of 50 pounds or more, and extended amounts of physical activity with prolonged standing and walking
- Must be able to bend, stoop, and wipe frequently
- Must frequently immerse hands in water
- Must be able to work in a hot and damp environment
- Previous experience in food service, kitchens, restaurants, or hospitality environments, but willing to train
Compensation
- Starting rate: $24.00/hour
