Prep Cook

As a prep cook, your primary responsibility is to assist the kitchen team by preparing ingredients and performing initial food preparation tasks. You play a crucial role in ensuring the availability of properly prepped items for efficient and timely meal service.

Responsibilities:

  • Wash, peel, chop, and dice vegetables, fruits, and other food items according to specified recipes and kitchen standards.
  • Measure and mix ingredients, following recipes and portion control guidelines.
  • Keep track of ingredient inventory, restock as needed, and notify the chef or kitchen manager of low supplies.
  • Adhere to food safety and sanitation standards, ensuring proper storage and handling of ingredients.
  • Set up workstations with necessary ingredients, tools, and equipment for the kitchen staff.
  • Work closely with chefs, line cooks, and other kitchen staff to ensure smooth coordination in the food preparation process.
  • Maintain cleanliness in the prep area, including washing dishes, sanitizing surfaces, and proper disposal of waste.

Qualifications:

  • Knowledge of basic culinary techniques and food preparation methods.
  • Precision in measuring ingredients and following recipes to maintain consistent food quality.
  • Ability to work efficiently to meet prep deadlines and support timely meal service.
  • Collaborate with kitchen staff to contribute to a positive and efficient kitchen environment.
  • Flexibility to handle different tasks and adapt to changing kitchen priorities.
  • Ability to stand for extended periods, lift heavy objects, and perform repetitive tasks.
  • Some employers may prefer or require certification in food safety practices.

Compensation: $17.00 per hour
