We are seeking a diligent and hardworking Prep Cook to join our team. You will assist our cooks by preparing ingredients, organizing workstations, and ensuring we meet the highest standards of food quality and safety. The ideal candidate is a fast, detail-oriented multitasker who thrives in a busy environment.
Key Responsibilities
Ingredient Preparation: Wash, peel, chop, and slice vegetables; portion meats, poultry, and fish; and measure ingredients according to recipes and chef instructions.
Station Setup: Set up and stock workstations with all necessary tools and ingredients prior to service.
Basic Cooking: Assist with basic culinary duties, such as making sauces, parboiling food, and starting initial steps of various dishes.
Kitchen Sanitation: Clean dishes, sanitize food prep surfaces, and dispose of waste according to local health and safety standards.
Inventory Management: Properly label, date, and store all ingredients in coolers, freezers, and dry storage to minimize waste.
Team Support: Assist cooks and other staff during peak service hours as needed.
Qualifications & Requirements
Experience: Previous experience in a commercial kitchen or a fast-paced food service environment is strongly preferred.
Skills: Strong knife skills, manual dexterity, and a clear understanding of cooking measurements.
Knowledge: Familiarity with safe food-handling practices and health department regulations. A ServSafe Certification is a plus.
Physical Endurance: Must be able to stand for extended periods, lift heavy objects (up to 50 lbs), and perform repetitive tasks in a hot, fast-paced environment.
Reliability: Ability to follow prep lists, take direction well, and arrive promptly for early morning or event-based shifts.
