Job Description

Maricel s Kitchen is hiring a prep cook to support our Filipino and Asian heritage kitchen in East Brunswick, New Jersey.

We welcome experienced prep cooks, newer kitchen professionals, and recent culinary school graduates. You must have some hands-on kitchen experience, but you do not need to know our recipes.

We can teach you our food and preparation methods. You bring good knife skills, discipline, enthusiasm, and a willingness to help wherever needed.

Maricel s Kitchen is a Filipino and Asian restaurant, cooking school, bakery, and catering kitchen. Our team values clean work, consistent preparation, and people who support one another.

What You Will Do

Wash, peel, cut, and prepare vegetables and other ingredients

Break down and portion proteins

Follow recipes, prep lists, and instructions from the kitchen team

Prepare ingredients for restaurant service, catering, and cooking classes

Label, date, store, and rotate food correctly

Keep prep areas, equipment, and storage spaces clean and organized

Support cooks during setup and service

Help with dishes, cleaning, receiving, and kitchen tasks when needed

Follow all food safety and sanitation standards

Who Should Apply

Prep cooks with restaurant, bakery, catering, or production experience

Recent culinary school graduates

Culinary students with hands-on kitchen experience

Kitchen assistants who want to build stronger skills

Experienced cooks looking for steady part-time work

What We Are Looking For

Some professional kitchen, culinary school, internship, or food preparation experience

Basic knife skills and safe food-handling habits

The ability to follow recipes and complete a prep list

A clean, organized, and dependable work style

A positive attitude and willingness to learn

The ability to stand, lift, bend, and work in a busy kitchen

Legal authorization to work in the United States

Filipino or Asian cooking experience is helpful, but it is not required. We will teach you our recipes. We need reliable hands, discipline, and pride in your work.
