The Role
The Prep Cook is responsible for preparing and organizing ingredients to support efficient kitchen operations and exceptional culinary execution within a high-volume food and beverage environment. This position plays a critical role in ensuring food quality, consistency, cleanliness, and adherence to all food safety and sanitation standards.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Prepare ingredients for service including washing, peeling, cutting, portioning, marinating, and storing food items
- Follow recipes, portion standards, and production guidelines established by culinary leadership
- Assist line cooks and culinary leadership with daily kitchen preparation and event execution
- Maintain proper food temperatures and ensure compliance with food safety and sanitation standards
- Label, date, and properly store all food products in accordance with company and health department standards
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of prep stations, walk-ins, storage areas, shelves, floors, walls, and drains
- Operate kitchen equipment safely and report maintenance concerns promptly
- Assist with receiving, rotating, and stocking deliveries using FIFO standards
- Participate as a collaborative team member to support timely service and operational efficiency
- Adhere to company appearance standards, attendance expectations, and uniform guidelines
- Support kitchen opening, closing, and deep-cleaning procedures as assigned
- Comply with all workplace safety policies and procedures
- Perform additional operational duties and responsibilities as assigned by leadership

Education and/or Experience
- Must be at least 18 years of age
- High school diploma or GED preferred
- Minimum one (1) year of kitchen, food preparation, or culinary experience preferred
- Experience in a high-volume restaurant, catering, stadium, arena, hotel, or attraction environment preferred
- Food Handler Certification preferred or required based on local regulations
- Culinary education or formal culinary training is a plus
Skills and Abilities
- Basic understanding of kitchen operations, food preparation techniques, and sanitation practices
- Ability to follow verbal and written instructions in a fast-paced environment
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
- Ability to work effectively both independently and within a team environment
- Must be able to read, write, and communicate effectively in English
- Flexible schedule with availability to work nights, weekends, holidays, and event days
- Ability to stand and walk for extended periods of time
- Ability to frequently bend, reach, stoop, push, pull, and lift throughout shifts
- Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds regularly
- Ability to work safely with knives, kitchen equipment, and cleaning chemicals
Compensation
$20/hour + a generous benefits package that includes medical, dental, vision, life and disability insurance, paid vacation, and 401(k) plan.
