  • As a Prep Cook for Mirbeau, you'll work alongside a professional culinary team, preparing fresh ingredients that support a thoughtful menu designed to complement wellness and elevated guest experiences. You’ll ensure ingredients are prepared accurately and efficiently, maintaining the culinary standards that support our Forbes-rated service. This position requires strong organizational skills and attention to detail, composure under pressure, and a genuine passion for food that nourishes the body. This role is expected to perform the responsibilities as outlined below, always guided by culinary integrity and respect for the experience each dish creates.
  • Pay Rate: $20.00-$23.00 per hour
  • Job Responsibilities:
    • Food Preparation & Production
  • Prepare ingredients according to Mirbeau recipes and specifications, maintaining quality, consistency and timeliness. This may include washing, peeling, chopping, slicing, measuring, and portioning
  • Prepare foundational recipes (ie, stocks, sauces, dressings, soups) as assigned
  • Label, date, rotate, and properly store all prepared food items following food safety standards
  • Monitor inventory levels of prepared ingredients and communicate any needs to the Chef de Cuisine
  • Maintain organized prep stations and ensure all ingredients are ready before each service period
  • Ensure garnishes, salads and condiments are ready for each service period
  • Communicate with Chef(s) and Line Cooks to ensure the production line is fully stocked and ready before each service period
  • Support the culinary team with additional food preparation needs throughout the day as requested
  • Properly break down, clean, and reset all prep areas at the end of each shift
    • Communication & Collaboration
      • Maintain open and effective communication with the Chef on Duty, FOH Manager, and Head Chef regarding updates or shortages, prep needs, inventory shortages, quality concerns or kitchen priorities
      • Collaborate professionally with kitchen and FOH staff to ensure seamless service
      • Contribute to a positive kitchen environment by offering ideas and improvements, address challenges, and contribute solutions to enhance kitchen productivity and food quality
    • Cleanliness & Food Safety
  • Maintain high standards of cleanliness and sanitation in all work areas and personal grooming
  • Maintain a clean and organized workstation
  • Handle, label and store food properly and safely to prevent spoilage, waste or food safety hazards
  • Adhere to all food safety guidelines and kitchen procedures at all times
  • Practice proper hygiene and personal cleanliness at all times
  • Follow all allergy-related procedures, ensuring meals are safely prepared, plated and served, keeping the safety and trust of the guest in mind
    • Professional Conduct
  • Report to work on time, in a clean uniform, and professionally groomed
  • Uphold the standards of excellence expected in both service and appearance
  • Follow all instructions from the Head Chef, and complete additional tasks as assigned

Qualifications, Skills & Educational Requirements:

    • Education & Experience
  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Minimum of 1-2 years of experience in a professional kitchen, food preparation, or culinary environment preferred
  • Culinary school education is a strong plus
  • Experience working in a fast-paced kitchen environment preferred
    • Skills & Knowledge
  • Strong communication skills
  • Familiarity with professional kitchen equipment, tools and preparation methods
  • Ability to read and follow recipes accurately and consistently
  • Excellent time management, multitasking and organizational skills
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality and consistency
  • Ability to work efficiently with minimal supervision
  • Knowledge of proper food handling, sanitation, and kitchen safety best practices
