This is a very hands-on job that covers a variety of duties relating to care, storage, transportation, and
installation of artwork, as well as general museum operations support.ADMINISTRATION

- Assists the Curator of Collections and Exhibitions with a variety of duties including:

- Covers reception desk approximately one shift per week, greeting visitors, giving out information on
current exhibitions, and answering the phone
- Works special events and each Saturday during opening hours
- Reports directly to the Curator and the Director
- Other duties as assignedDEFINITION/DISTINGUISHING CHARACTERISTICS OF JOB
The Preparator assists with all aspects of exhibition preparation and maintenance at the Masur Museum of
Art. Assists with care and handling of permanent collection, installation of exhibitions, and preparation for
programming administered by the Masur Museum of Art. Responsible for general maintenance of museum
facilities, and for ordering maintenance supplies.
Essential skills and requirements
- Ability to climb ladders and scaffolding; ability to lift up to 501 bs and the ability to stand for long
periods of time; ability to use eyes and hands to examine and handle delicate objects
- Demonstrated experience and confidence with a variety of power tools, hardware, and other building
supplies
- Flexibility to work additional hours during periods of installation/deinstallation if needed
- Preferred experience: art handling, packing/shipping artwork, framing artwork, installing exhibitions,
building art display furniture, other museum/gallery experience
- Ability to maintain positive relationships with people associated with the Museum, including, but not
limited to, the Museum Director, Museum staff, other City of Monroe employees, volunteers,
members of the governing board of the Museum 's support organization, the general public, and the
