Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate individual to join our team as a Preschool Bus Aide at Wauseon Exempted Village School District. This part-time position involves providing assistance to preschool children during their transportation to and from school. The ideal candidate will ensure a safe, nurturing, and supportive environment for young learners while maintaining effective communication with parents and staff.
The hours are as follows:
6:30 a.m. - 8:00 a.m. / 2:00 p.m. - 3:30 p.m.
- Starting date: 2026-2027 school year
- August 19, 2026 starting day
- 15 accrued Sick Days/year (maximum 325 days)

Responsibilities
- Assist preschool children while boarding and disembarking the school bus, ensuring their safety at all times.
- Supervise children during transit, providing guidance and support as needed.
- Maintain a calm and positive atmosphere on the bus, managing behavior and addressing any issues that may arise.
- Communicate effectively with children, parents, and school staff regarding any concerns or incidents.
- Ensure that all safety protocols and procedures are followed during transportation.
- Collaborate with the bus driver to ensure smooth and efficient operations.
- Assist children with special needs as required, providing additional support to ensure their comfort and safety.
- Help with the organization and distribution of personal belongings, including backpacks and lunchboxes, as children board and exit the bus.
- Attend training sessions and meetings as required to stay informed about safety practices and district policies.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
- Previous experience working with young children, particularly in a preschool or educational setting, is a plus.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact positively with children, parents, and staff.
- Patience, compassion, and a genuine love for working with young children.
- Ability to remain calm and composed in various situations, including emergencies.
- Knowledge of basic safety protocols and practices related to child transportation.
- Must pass a background check and adhere to all district policies and procedures.
- Availability to work part-time hours during school transportation times, typically in the morning and afternoon.
