JOB DESCRIPTION
TITLE: Preschool Inclusion Teacher (ICR) - Long Term Substitute
QUALIFICATIONS:
Valid New Jersey Teaching Certification- Preschool through Grade 3 (1013) and
Students with Disabilities (2475) CE, CEAS, or Standard Certification.
Demonstrates strong skills in the areas of evidence-based instructional strategies and
tiered interventions.
Strong knowledge of Creative Curriculum, Preschool Teaching and Learning Standards,
and NJ Preschool Classroom Teaching Guidelines
Experience with integrating Social and Emotional Learning/PBSIS
Strong verbal and written communication skills. Inclusion
Required criminal history background check and proof of U.S. citizenship.
Pass a physical examination in accordance with statute and board policy.
REPORTS TO: Building Principal
POSITION GOALS:
Provides a stimulating, safe, and developmentally appropriate educational environment that
promotes the cognitive, social, emotional, and physical development of all children.
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
Co-teaches and collaborates with the general education preschool teacher and support staff to
provide instruction to a blended classroom of students with disabilities and typically developing
peers within the general education setting.
Ensures that students with Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) have access to the general
education Creative Curriculum through the use of accommodations, modifications, and
differentiated instruction.
Plans and implements Creative Curriculum studies and investigations, embedding IEP goals and
objectives into daily routines, choice time, and small- and large-group instruction alongside
typically developing peers to promote peer modeling and natural social interaction.
Establishes and maintains a classroom environment that is safe, stimulating, developmentally
appropriate, and inclusive for all learners.
Provides written reports and updates regarding students' current levels of functioning using
Teaching Strategies GOLD or comparable assessment data, as needed for the IEP process.
Develops measurable IEP goals and objectives based on identified student needs in collaboration
with Child Study Team members and related service providers.
Provides instruction aligned with students' IEP goals and objectives while implementing
developmentally appropriate preschool instructional activities that facilitate learning experiences
in language, literacy, mathematics, art, music, play, motor development, self-help skills, social
interaction, and other areas of early childhood development.
Provides ongoing support to families by offering suggestions for activities that enhance their
child's learning and by encouraging family engagement through preschool events and parent
participation opportunities.
Works collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team, including speech-language pathologists,
occupational therapists, physical therapists, behavior specialists, and other related service
providers, embedding recommended strategies into daily classroom instruction within the
inclusive setting.
Assists with the transition of students from preschool to elementary programs by providing
updated information regarding students' current levels of functioning, participating in transition
planning activities, visiting receiving programs when appropriate, and collaborating with
families and school staff.
Consults with and supports paraprofessionals in implementing instructional, behavioral, and
communication strategies, including positive behavior supports, visual supports, embedded
instruction, and other evidence-based practices within the inclusive classroom.
Facilitates ongoing data collection and progress monitoring and collaborates with educational
teams to develop Functional Behavioral Assessments (FBAs), Behavior Intervention Plans
(BIPs), and other appropriate interventions for students demonstrating behavioral concerns.
Ensures compliance with Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA) and Least
Restrictive Environment (LRE) requirements by implementing appropriate supports and services
that enable students to participate in the inclusive classroom to the maximum extent appropriate.
Collaborates effectively with colleagues from diverse backgrounds to support instructional
planning, curriculum implementation, and continuous program improvement.
Delivers instruction using a variety of differentiated, developmentally appropriate, and evidence-
based instructional practices consistent with the Creative Curriculum's individualized, play-based
approach to learning.
Demonstrates effective interpersonal, communication, and collaboration skills when working
with students, families, colleagues, administrators, and community partners.
Meets regularly with instructional coaches, the principal, and other administrators to review
student progress, instructional practices, and program goals.
Attends Professional Learning Community (PLC) meetings and participates in professional
development as directed, including training related to Creative Curriculum implementation,
inclusive preschool practices, and evidence-based instructional strategies.
Performs other duties within the scope of employment and certification as assigned by the
administration under the authority of the Board of Education.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:
Pay Rate $195.00 per day and additional terms to be provided by employer, ESS Inc.
