    POSITION SUMMARY
    The Preschool Lead Teacher is responsible for delivering high-quality, developmentally appropriate, and standards-aligned instruction for preschool-aged children (approximately ages 3–5). This role serves as the primary instructional leader in the preschool classroom and implements The CLOUD Early Learning Center’s curriculum framework, instructional pillars, and assessment systems to ensure children are academically, socially, and emotionally prepared for kindergarten.The Preschool Lead Teacher plans rigorous yet engaging lessons, integrates project-based learning and hands-on exploration, collaborates with the Educational Director, and leads classroom staff to maintain a safe, structured, and nurturing learning environment.

    • NYS Early Learning Standards (Birth–Pre-K)
    • Center-approved curriculum and instructional framework

    The Preschool Lead Teacher is expected to implement The CLOUD Early Learning Center’s Instructional Pillars across daily instruction and classroom environments.
    These pillars guide lesson planning, learning centers, and student engagement, including:

    Instruction must intentionally reflect these pillars through themed learning centers, hands-on projects, and structured lessons.

    PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
    Classroom Instruction & Student Achievement
    • Plan and deliver daily instruction aligned to curriculum and standards
    • Provide whole-group, small-group, and center-based learning
    • Support academic growth in:
      • Early literacy and phonological awareness
      • Early math skills
      • Science, STEM, and inquiry
      • Social-emotional development
    • Create a structured, engaging learning environment
    Curriculum & Lesson Planning
    • Develop weekly lesson plans aligned to curriculum programs and pillars
    • Integrate PBL and hands-on learning experiences
    • Ensure learning centers reflect instructional goals
    • Collaborate with the Educational Director on instructional planning
    Assessment & Progress Monitoring
    • Conduct child assessments using Teaching Strategies GOLD and other assigned tools
    • Maintain documentation and child portfolios
    • Analyze data to guide instruction
    • Participate in data meetings and intervention planning
    Social-Emotional Learning & Classroom Culture
    • Implement Second Step lessons daily/weekly
    • Foster a positive, respectful classroom environment
    • Use trauma-informed and developmentally appropriate behavior guidance
    Health, Safety & OCFS Compliance
    • Maintain required staff-to-child ratios
    • Actively supervise children at all times
    • Follow all sanitation, hygiene, and safety procedures
    • Conduct safety checks of classroom and playground areas
    • Report incidents promptly
    • Support emotional regulati
    Learning Centers & Classroom Environment
    • Design and maintain engaging themed learning centers
    • Ensure materials are clean, safe, and replenished
    • Support independent exploration and guided learning
    • Maintain an organized, welcoming classroom
    Family Engagement & Communication
    • Build strong partnerships with families
    • Share academic and developmental updates
    • Conduct parent conferences
    • Participate in family events and workshops
    Student Management System & Documentation
    • Use the Center’s student management system to:
    • Record attendance and activities
    • Document progress
    • Support communication
    • Maintain confidentiality
    Professional Responsibilities
    • Attend meetings, trainings, and PD
    • Participate in curriculum development
    • Uphold Center policies and professionalism standards
    QUALIFICATIONS
    Required:
    Meets OCFS Lead Teacher qualifications
    Preferred:
    • Associate’s or Bachelor’s Degree in Early Childhood Education or related field, Child Development Associate (CDA) certificate or plan of study to complete within 12 months 
    • Experience teaching preschool
    Compensation: $19.00 - $21.00 per hour
