Preschool Paraprofessional (Teacher Assistant) Part-Time

Job Summary

The Preschool Paraprofessional supports the classroom teacher in providing a safe, nurturing, and engaging learning environment for preschool students. The paraprofessional assists with implementing student goals and objectives, supporting individual student needs, and maintaining a positive classroom environment.

The position works under the direction of the classroom teacher and administration and collaborates with teachers, related service providers, and other school personnel.

Essential Responsibilities

• Assist the teacher with daily classroom instruction, activities, and routines.
• Support students in meeting individual goals and objectives.
• Assist with student supervision, transitions, meals, recess, and other activities.
• Promote positive behavior and an inclusive, respectful classroom environment.
• Help prepare materials and maintain an organized, safe classroom.
• Collaborate professionally with school staff and maintain student confidentiality.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Candidates must meet applicable state and district requirements, including one of the following:

• Minimum of 48 hours of college credit; or
• High school diploma and a minimum composite ACT score of 21; or
• High school diploma and successful completion of a reading and writing competency assessment.

Experience working with preschool children or in an educational setting is preferred.
