The Silver Lake Regional School District is seeking a Principal beginning on July 1, 2026, for our Integrated Preschool located at the Kingston Elementary School.
Qualifications
DESE Licensure as Special Education Administrator or Supervisor Director of Pupil Personnel Services Principal Assistant Principal Teacher of Students with Moderate Disabilities or Teacher of Students with Severe Disabilities
Masters degree or advanced graduate study in a discipline related to those licenses
At least 5 years of experience in a school environment working with preschool-aged children
Performance Responsibilities
Special Education Leadership
Monitor and facilitate the provision of a Free and Appropriate Education (FAPE) in the Least Restrictive Environment (LRE) for identified students
Serve as Special Education Team Chairperson for all initial and 3-year re-evaluation meetings
Assure that all special education paperwork for initial annual and 3-year evaluations are completed within the required DESE timelines
Determine the appropriate assessments for all referrals and meetings
Review and sign all Individualized Education Program (IEP) documents and maintain compliance with DESE
Conduct home and/or school observations as needed
Consult with liaisons, parents, guardians, and outside agencies regarding special education services and programming
Coordinate peer partner open houses, peer applications, and child find notifications
Attend Early Childhood Advisory Council meetings and update staff of any changes in regulations, trends, and best practices
Coordinate programming and staffing of Extended School Year programs
Design and facilitate family engagement opportunities, such as SEPAC classroom volunteers, parent training, etc.
Building-Based Leadership
Supervise and evaluate all personnel within the Integrated Preschool Program
Establish and maintain an effective learning climate within the Integrated Preschool
Assist with the preparation and management of the preschool budget, including the establishment of tuition rates
Coordinate the intake eligibility determination and class placement for all students
Maintain records of all referrals
Maintain knowledge of state and federal laws and adhere to LEA procedures, process, and policies
Supervise the maintenance of all required building records and reports
Assume responsibility for the implementation of all School Committee policies and regulations
Act as a Mandated Reporter, Chapter 119, Section 51A
Comply with Safety Care practices
Other Duties
Attend any administrative meeting convened by the Director of Student Services
Execute any other tasks assigned by the Director of Student Services
This is a year-round benefits-eligible position as an employee of the SLRSD. Paid sick vacation and personal days are also included as outlined in the individual contract.
Salary range: $90,000 - $109,000, commensurate with experience and education.
