CERTIFICATION

Valid NJ Teacher Certificate of Eligibility with Advanced Standing (CEAS) or Standard Certificate

Preschool through Grade 3 (P-3) Endorsement in Teacher of Students with Disabilities (TSD) preferred

POSITION SUMMARY

The Bordentown Regional School District invites applications for the anticipated position of Preschool Teacher within the Preschool Students with Disabilities (PSD) Program. This position is responsible for delivering high-quality, developmentally appropriate instruction to preschool-age students with identified disabilities in a structured, inclusive classroom environment. The Preschool Teacher works collaboratively with the Child Study Team, related service providers, families, and district leadership to implement individualized Education Programs (IEPs) and support each student's cognitive, social-emotional, communication, and adaptive development.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

Instructional Responsibilities

Plan and deliver developmentally appropriate instruction aligned with the New Jersey Preschool Teaching and Learning Standards

Implement individualized learning experiences that address each student's IEP goals across all developmental domains

Create and maintain a structured, nurturing, and language-rich classroom environment

Use evidence-based instructional strategies, visual supports, and differentiated approaches to meet diverse learner needs

Integrate social-emotional learning, communication skill-building, and behavior support into daily routines

Utilize data-driven instruction to monitor student progress and adjust instructional approaches accordingly

IEP & Compliance Responsibilities

Participate in IEP meetings as a required member of the IEP team as necessary

Implement and document IEP goals and objectives in accordance with NJAC 6A:14 as necessary

Maintain accurate and timely student records, progress reports, and required documentation as necessary

Ensure provision of a Free Appropriate Public Education (FAPE) in the Least Restrictive Environment (LRE) as necessary

Collaborate with the Child Study Team in the annual review, reevaluation, and classification processes as necessary

Support smooth transitions for students entering from Early Intervention (EI) to district programming as necessary

Collaborative Responsibilities

Coordinate with related service providers (speech-language therapy, occupational therapy, physical therapy, ABA) to deliver integrated services

Communicate regularly and effectively with families regarding student progress, concerns, and program activities

Partner with paraprofessionals and instructional aides assigned to the classroom; provide direction and modeling of instructional strategies

Collaborate with general education preschool staff to promote inclusive practices

Participate in professional development, staff meetings, and district-level initiatives as required

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

Knowledge of child development principles and developmentally appropriate practice for preschool-age learners

Understanding of special education law, including IDEA, Section 504, and NJAC 6A:14

Familiarity with the New Jersey Preschool Teaching and Learning Standards

Experience with or knowledge of Early Intervention to Preschool transition processes

Ability to implement structured routines, visual supports, and positive behavior strategies

Strong written and verbal communication skills for collaboration with families and multidisciplinary teams

Demonstrated commitment to equity, inclusion, and high expectations for all learners

Proficiency in data collection and progress monitoring

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Teacher of Students with Disabilities (TSD) endorsement or active pursuit thereof

Prior experience in a public-school preschool or early childhood special education setting
