TITLE: TFH Preschool Teacher's Aide
DEPARTMENT: Preschool
CAMPUS: Vacaville
HOURS: Part Time - 28 Hours
PURPOSE AND SUMMARY:
The Teacher's Aide shall assist the classroom teacher with various activities such as supervising children, preparing arts and crafts, putting out snack supplies, cleaning the kitchen, restroom and sanitizing toys, etc.
QUALIFICATIONS (AT THE TIME OF HIRE)
- Must be 18 years old and hold a GED or High School Diploma.
- Must be willing to enroll in 6-semester units in Early Childhood education that comply with the state licensing standards within the first 90 days of hire.
- Upon hire, must complete at least 2-semester units in Early Childhood Development per year.
- Must submit a clear Health screen and TB clearance form.
- Must have a valid CPR/First Aid card
- Must submit a clear Live Scan from the DOJ, FBI, and Child Abuse index check.
- Must meet the Personnel requirements listed in the Child Care Center General Licensing requirements (section 101216)
- Must complete on-the-job training regarding the areas listed below:
- Principles of nutrition, food prep, storage, and menu planning.
- Housekeeping and sanitation principles, including universal health precautions
- Assist in the provision of childcare and supervision.
- Recognition of early signs of illness and the need for professional assistance.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Curriculum/classroom:
- Assists the teachers with classroom opening/closing duties.
- Assists teachers with snack and art prep.
- Helps organize and plan age-appropriate activities.
Health and Safety:
- Assists teachers in supervising, interacting, and problem-solving with the children in the classroom setting.
- Helps teachers sort and file children's work in their file or portfolio.
- Assists the teacher by cleaning the classroom/restroom throughout the day as needed.
- Assists children with hand washing after toileting, before and after snacks, and meals.
- Assists Director and Teachers in planning and staging fire, earthquake, and shelter-in-place drills.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
