    Summary

    The Prescription Refill Specialist is clinically responsible for processing prescription refills and prior authorizations “centrally” across the Covenant Health Ambulatory Practices.  Additionally, the job role involves the careful review of patient charts by following established standards, protocols, workflows, thus improving efficiency by reducing the workload on our Providers.

    Essential Duties and Responsibilities

    • Supports and promotes the mission and values of Covenant Health Ministry.

    • Processes prescription refills and prior authorizations for all Ambulatory Practices via the centralized systems and EMR work queues.

    • Follows all workflows, established prescription refill procedures related and prior authorizations protocols.

    • Rectifies outstanding prescription protocol requirements.

    • Thoroughly and concisely, documents prescription processing with accuracy. 

    • Communicates directly with patients on a “case-by-case” basis regarding their prescription refill status.

    • Demonstrates flexibility in assisting with the support and coverage within the Covenant Health Ambulatory Practices network.

    • Other duties assigned or consistent with this job role.

    Job Requirements

    • Exceptional organizational and problem-solving skills.

    • The ability to work in an independent, fast-paced and detail-oriented environment.

    • Provides excellent customer service through engaging interpersonal skillsets and excellent written communication.

    • Proficient in the reading and understanding of electronic health records.

    • Must be within commutable distance to one of the Covenant locations if physical onsite work is needed in lieu of remote.

    • Adheres to organizational policies, procedures, worksite protocols, safety and infection control policies.

    • Demonstrates an ongoing commitment to maintaining clinical competencies or activities that contribute to healthcare professional development, thus required by the MAS department and Covenant Health’s policies.

    Education and Experience

    • High School diploma or GED.

    • Certified Medical Assistant (Required).

    • 2+ years’ experience as a Medical Assistant preferred.

    • Certification and registration through the National Commission for Certifying Agencies (NCCA) ~American Association of Medical Assistants (AAMA), American Medical Technologists (AMT), National Center for Competency Testing (NCCT) or the National Health Career Association (NHA) is required.

    An equivalent combination of education and experience which provides proficiency in the areas of responsibility listed above may be substituted for the above education and experience requirements.

    Working Conditions/Physical Demands

    Must possess the physical and mental abilities to perform the tasks normally associated with this position that involves a combination of sitting, standing, walking, bending, stooping, and reaching. Some stress related to high level of responsibility for quality care.

    Comp Range:

    $21.55 - $29.68

    Rate of pay displayed reflects the beginning of the pay scale.  At the time of an offer, determination of your offer will reflect your skills and experience as it relates to the position.
