JOB SUMMARY Reporting to the EVP, Chief Philanthropy Officer, the VP President - Central Texas Foundation is responsible for planning, overseeing, and leading philanthropic activities for the BSW Central Texas Foundation for Baylor Scott and White Health (BSWH), which may include capital campaigns, major gifts and annual giving, corporate and institutional giving, employee and board giving, endowment programs and planned giving, as well as related marketing strategies and donor communications programs.

Responsible for obtaining new revenue funds for BSWH foundations through the acquisition of gifts, donations, and grants. Ensures that foundation philanthropy meets the needs of BSWH patients, hospitals, clinics, ambulatory care facilities, healthcare services, research, and education. Plans and develops strategies, programs, events, policies, and initiatives designed to enhance charitable giving to the BSWH foundations.

Acts as a liaison with various external agencies, organizations, and donors to grow and nurture relationships to raise funds. Establishes relationships which will encourage philanthropic support for BSWH foundations. Identifies and maintains portfolios of top donor prospects for BSWH foundations and develops action plans for the cultivation, solicitation, and closure of fundraising and philanthropic activities.

Collaborates closely with executive leadership, board of trustees, operations, and other departments to develop, diversify, and sustain the foundation and philanthropic programs in accordance with overall BSWH business objectives.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Oversees philanthropic activities for the BSW Central Texas Foundation
  • Develops the foundation fundraising plan, priorities, and programs aligned with BSWH mission and business objectives
  • Leads the identification of top prospects, the creation of foundation operating plans, and the design cultivation, solicitation, and closure strategies
  • Develops and implements foundation policies and procedures that govern operations, including oversight of funds, fund balances, fund transfers, and coordination of fund administrators
  • Ensures compliance with all applicable laws and regulatory requirements governing philanthropic foundations
  • Leads the development and implementation of new foundation programs, initiatives, and services, working closely with BSWH operating functions to ensure continuity and growth of programming and services
  • Partners with BSWH executive leadership, the Foundation Boards, and key volunteers in fund-raising activities
  • Develops, plans, and implements all fund-raising strategies and activities to meet the foundations budgetary and campaign goals
  • Integrates philanthropy best practices, instills the importance of properly stewarding all gifts, and ensures a coordinated and collaborative approach for major gift solicitation, planned giving, stewardship, annual giving, and prospect research
  • Represents the Foundation to the Board of Trustees, donors, constituencies, and other stakeholders

KEY SUCCESS FACTORS

  • Bachelors degree in healthcare administration, business, or related degree preferred. Masters preferred
  • 5+ years of experience in non-profit management, charitable fundraising, or related area
  • 1+ years of experience in a leadership role
  • High energy, with passion for using foundation for medical excellence and research
  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills
  • Proven success asking for (and closing) major gifts, managing multiple prospects and donors, and building long-term relationships with major donors
  • Certified Fund-Raising Executive (CFRE) or similar professional certification preferred
  • Knowledge of planned giving fundraising and trusts preferable in a health care setting
  • Understanding of IRS Regulations and other tax laws applicable to charitable giving
  • Ability to communicate legal implications of philanthropy to a variety of constituencies

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelors or 4 years of work experience above the minimum qualification
  • 5 years of experience
