Press Brake Operator uses a press brake machine to bend, shape, and form metal sheets and plates according to technical drawings and specifications. Responsibilities include setting up the machine, programming CNC Unit, inspecting materials, performing routine maintenance, and ensuring the final products meet quality standards. This role requires precision, attention to detail, and a strong understanding of mathematics and materials science in manufacturing industry.
Key Responsibilities
Prepare the press brake by selecting and installing the correct tooling (dies) and setting the appropriate bending pressure (tonnage) for the specific job.
- Blueprint Interpretation:
Read and interpret blueprints, work instructions, and technical drawings to understand the required part and the fabrication process.
Program the press brake's CNC unit to control the bending and forming operations.
Place and align raw materials onto the machine for accurate bending.
Operate the press brake to accurately bend, shape, or cut metal components according to the plan.
Inspect finished parts for accuracy, measure them to ensure they meet specifications, and make any necessary adjustments.
Perform routine maintenance and checks on the machinery to ensure optimal performance and prevent malfunctions.
Adhere to strict safety protocols in a manufacturing environment, often involving standing for long periods and handling heavy materials.
