Press Brake Operator

I.      GENERAL INFORMATION:

Department:  Press Room

Location:  Shop

Position reports to:  Production Supervisor

Positions supervised: None

II.     POSITION SUMMARY STATEMENT:

Organize and set-up brake presses including all accessories, fixtures, lubrication, etc. and produce a sample part in a time efficient manner.

III.   JOB RESPONSIBILITIES (essential and other functions)

1.      Active involvement in promoting & maintaining a safe work environment.

2.      Set-Up, adjust, and operate press brake to form, bend, punch, notch, etc. a variety of standard work where procedures are prescribed and standardized.

3.      Perform safety check upon completion of Set-Up.

4.      Work from drawings, specifications, templates while inspecting parts with scales, protractors, fixed angle, radii gages, and caliper.

5.      Produce parts as assigned by supervisor or lead person & according to the needed sequence.

6.      Ensure the quality of parts produced is equal to sample part.

7.      Record all necessary job information including start & stop time, #of parts produced, status of job, location of finished parts, etc.

8.      Ensure initial & periodic safety checks are completed.

9.      Ensure periodic part inspection is performed.

10.  Comply with all Company policies.

11.  Notify supervisor or lead person immediately of problems, concerns, or questions you may have.

12.  Keep work area clean & free of hazards.

13.  Follow special job instructions as communicated by supervisor or lead person or as on job card.

14.  Any other duties as assigned by supervisor or lead person.

IV.   REQUIREMENTS/QUALIFICATIONS:

1.  Knowledge:

High School diploma or equivalent preferred.

Working knowledge of shop math.

2.  Experience:

Strong brake press operator and set-up experience required.

1-3 experience is a must.

3.  Ability/skills

Blueprint reading helpful.

High mechanical aptitude.

Detail oriented, analytical, and quality-conscious. 

Willing and able to perform repetitive tasks.

Able and willing to wear all required personal protective equipment (PPE).

Effective communication with peers, management, and employees.

Team player, works with others to solve problems and helps others when assistance is needed.

                        Ability to read and understand English as required, for interpreting job cards and blueprints.

                        Safety and quality minded.

1.      Fast paced, job shop and fabrication business.

2.      Ever changing priorities

3.      Occasional to frequent overtime.

4.      PPE required.

5.      Noise, dust, dirt, heat, cold in winter environment.
