JOB SUMMARY:
The Press Brake Operator is responsible for the setup, maintenance, and operation of the machines assigned to them in the Brake Press Cell. Under the direction of the Shift Supervisor and the Manufacturing and Operations Manager, they will complete all work orders according to the specific work order instructions. The Press Brake Operator is responsible for following production schedules by work order specification requirements and blueprints. Maintains quality through visual inspection of equipment, dies, materials and processes. Maintains good housekeeping practice and ensures that company policies and safety rules are followed by any task assigned. Responsibilities also include any other assignments provided by the immediate Supervisor. 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
  • Operates Press Brake machine.
  • Run bend and forming operations using standard and custom punches.
  • Use a CNC controller to input information into the machine.
  • Adjust ram and back gauge locations per process control instructions and blueprints.
  • Perform complex programming using all features of the press brake.
  • Work with tight tolerance.
  • Perform spot inspections of parts.
  • Complete and maintain paperwork.
  • Set up light gauge metal.
  • Configure bend allowances for sheet metal (stainless, aluminum, and regular steel).
  • Read drawings and blueprints.

KNOWLEDGE OF:
  • Good mechanical skills, use of hand/power tools.
  • Good understanding of quality and safety practices.
 
ABILITY TO/TRAINING REQUIREMENTS:
  • Equipment emergency stops.
  • Must understand and follow all departmental safety rules.
  • Proper use of all safety equipment: safety glasses, safety shoes, reflective vest/uniform.
  • Understand Safety Data Sheets (SDS).
  • ISO sections about the position.
 
QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Knowledge of using the proper punch and die clearances according to material type and thickness.
  • Requires a high school diploma or equivalent.
  • Experience using Wintriss and Aida controls is a plus.
  • Capacity to work overtime as needed .
