    Description

Press Brake Operator / TIG Welder (Houston, TX)

Full time, direct hire, 2 openings

Melben is hiring press brake operators and TIG welders for a sheet metal fabrication shop on the northwest side of Houston, Texas. The shop has been running since 1978 and works in light gauge aluminum, stainless, brass, copper, and plastics for electronics, medical, food processing, and oilfield customers.

This is light gauge, thin material work. If you have run a brake on thin sheet, or you have TIG welded thin aluminum and stainless, you already know this job.

    What You Will Do

    • Set up and run press brakes on thin, light gauge sheet metal
    • Read prints, pick the right tooling, and hit your bend angles and flange sizes
    • TIG weld light gauge aluminum, stainless, brass, and copper
    • Run the spot welder on sheet metal assemblies
    • Check your own work with tape, calipers, and protractors
    • Keep parts clean with no dents, marks, or burn through
    • Work off a job packet and keep the run moving

    What You Will Run

    • Trumpf TrumaBend V170 press brake, 170 ton
    • Amada HFB 5020 8 axis press brake
    • Two Trumpf TC200R CNC turret punches
    • Miller Dynasty 350 TIG machine
    • Two Miller Syncrowave 350XL TIG machines
    • Miller MIG welder
    • Amada spot welder

    What We Are Looking For

    • Real hands on time on a press brake, or real TIG time on light gauge metal. Either one gets you in the door.
    • Comfortable on thin sheet. This shop does not do plate work or heavy structural welding.
    • You can read a print and pull your own dimensions off it
    • Steady hands and a good eye. Thin material shows every mistake.
    • Shows up on time and stays on the job
    • Tell us how long you have been doing this and what machines you ran

    What You Get

    • Direct hire from day one. You are not a temp.
    • Two openings open right now
    • Small crew of about 20 people, so your work gets seen
    • Steady work with a shop that has been in business since 1978
    • Clean 30,000 square foot plant on the northwest side of Houston
    • Short drive from the 290 and Beltway 8 area
