Full Time Press Brake Operator Job Summary:
This role is a skilled position responsible for setting up and operating press brakes.
Essential Functions:
Set up and perform brake operations on various styles of brake machinery according to specifications of work orders and fabrication prints/drawings without supervision
Read and interpret mechanical drawings or fabrication prints as needed for accurate and safe brake operation
Understand and calculate bend deduction allowances as required to properly and safely set up tooling
Follow work order directions and safely produce required quantity of parts efficiently and within the required tolerance and cosmetic quality
Adhere to all company safety regulations, including those regarding machine operation and proper guarding
Perform inspection to prove required dimensional tolerances and cosmetic requirements are met before submitting to Department Lead or QC for monitoring
Cooperate with other employees in the department to maintain a safe working environment
Enter time and data entry into company data acquisition system in accordance with company policy
Perform light level daily maintenance on assigned brake press equipment
Complete assigned work within given timeframe and according to specifications
Maintain cleanliness and organization of assigned work area
Accurately attach, track and process work orders and packing slips for incoming materials and finished products
Other duties as assigned
Skills/Qualifications:
High School diploma or equivalent is required
Minimum of 3 years of experience in sheet metal precision press brake operations
Ability to read and interpret blueprints or mechanical drawings involving brake operations
Knowledge of how to safely set up and run various styles of Brake machinery including AMADA, Bystronic, Safan Darley and Adira brake machinery
Sufficient manual dexterity to operate machines safely and properly
Familiarity with shop equipment such as table, panel and chop saws and kick and drill presses
Physical Requirements:
Ability to arrive promptly for shift and stand and/or walk for duration of shift
Ability to hear, speak, kneel, bend and use a step ladder or stool
Capable of lifting 75 pounds
Capable of working in a manufacturing environment
Possess own accurate mechanical measuring tools of the craft (calipers, micrometers, etc.)
