POSITION DUTIES

A Pretrial Release Investigations Supervisor is the supervisory level of pretrial release investigative work for the Pretrial Release Services Program, part of the Division of Pretrial Detention and Services (DPDS), Department of Public Safety and Correctional Services, serving Baltimore City. Employees in this classification supervise lower-level Pretrial Release Investigators.

• Provide direction, guidance and technical advice to Investigative staff in the performance of their duties.
• Review charging documents and Initial Appearance forms.
• Establish schedules, daily work assignments, and priorities for Investigative staff.
• Provide ongoing training to Investigative staff.
• Assign and review workload of Investigative staff.
• Ensure that all designated work assignments are completed and comply with agency interview and investigation standards.
• Compile and maintain daily and monthly statistical data on shift performance.
• Conduct monthly performance audits.
• Conduct performance evaluations (PEP) on subordinate staff.
• Conduct monthly staff meetings with subordinate staff.
• Monitor attendance, approve leave, and approve time cards.
• Ensure the shift maintains a 95% verification rating.
• Act as Duty Supervisor, when assigned.
• Recommend appropriate disciplinary sanctions for subordinate staff.
• Perform other related duties, as required
• Adhere to Policies and Procedures

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education:   Graduation from an accredited high school or possession of a high school equivalency certificate.

Experience: Three years of investigative experience in law enforcement, court services, parole and probation, or pretrial release work.

Notes:

1. Candidates may substitute additional investigative experience in law enforcement, court services, parole and probation, or pretrial release work on a year-for-year basis for the required education.

2. Candidates may substitute U.S. Armed Forces military service as a non-commissioned officer in special investigations classifications or specialist codes in the criminal justice field of work at the rate of two years of military experience for one year of experience.

DESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

⢠Experience reviewing criminal charging documents and/or court-issued forms.

⢠Supervisory experience (ensuring staff meets/maintains quotas and/or completes required daily task assignments).

LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS AND CERTIFICATIONS

Employees in this class may be assigned duties which require the operation of a motor vehicle. Employees assigned such duties will be required to possess a driverâs license valid in the State of Maryland.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS

Employees in this classification will be assigned to one of three shifts in order to maintain 24 hour coverage and may be required to work on weekends and holidays.
