Preventative Maintenance Technician

Vancouver Hauling , a Waste Connections company, is looking for our next Preventative Maintenance Technician to work on our heavy-duty trucks and equipment to keep our fleet running safely and efficiently.


Schedule: 3:00 PM –11:30 PM (Regular OT available)


Pay: $36.56/HR


Safety Sensitive: Yes


PM Technicians interested in secure, steady employment are encouraged to apply.


Commercial Driver’s license A or B CDL is preferred but not required.


Mechanic tools and tool box required. Shop also has tools onsite to use.


Responsibilities include:


+ Perform repairs and inspections, safety checks, diagnosis and repair of electrical, hydraulic, suspension, brake and air systems on diesel vehicles.

+ Performs repairs and assigned preventive maintenance services.

+ Utilizes vehicle computer electronics systems to interpret failure modes to initiate or assign repairs.

+ Conducts safety checks on vehicles and equipment.

+ Completes required paperwork utilizing fleet maintenance software program associated with repairing vehicles, documenting parts usage, and accounting for repair times.

+ Reviews, completes or assigns repairs identified on Driver Vehicle Inspection Reports.

+ Performs maintenance related work as required.

+ Maintains a clean, safe work area in compliance with corporate and OSHA standards.

+ Performs all work in accordance with established safety procedures.

+ Ability to effectively communicate needed repairs or tasks.


Qualified candidates must have:


+ Experience in commercial or similar repair field is preferred but not required.

+ Willingness to learn new skills, and a positive attitude.

+ Driver’s license.

+ Basic tool set and toolbox.

+ Basic computer skills and ability to learn test diagnostic laptop and software.


Working conditions & physical effort:


+ Extensive physical activity. Requires strenuous physical work; heavy lifting, pushing, or pulling required of objects over 50 pounds.

+ Work environment may be indoors in a shop, or outdoors to repair trucks on the road. Usually well-lighted and ventilated. Sometimes necessary to work in awkward or tight positions and to handle greasy or dirty tools. These factors require following basic safety precautions.
