Salary Range: Up to $53,190 annualized, commensurate with education, experience, and qualifications.

Job Summary
The Prevention Specialist provides primary prevention training and educational programs to the campus community specific to sexual violence, intimate partner violence, and stalking. This role works to provide ongoing outreach and awareness of same issues to the campus community. The position works to develop, implement, and present evidence-based curriculum with the goal of creating ongoing comprehensive prevention programming. The Prevention Specialist will work alongside and collaboratively with other campus stakeholders, in the facilitation of bystander intervention programming and integration of trauma informed care throughout campus departments.
Core Responsibilities
- Focuses on prevention approaches with the goal of reducing prevalence of sexual/relationship violence
- Develops and implements comprehensive primary prevention education and programming for the campus community around consent, bystander intervention, the impact of socio-ecological dynamics on violence in our community, sexual harassment, sexual violence, dating violence, stalking, sexual health, and related issues.
- Coordinates ongoing education programs for campus including presentations, workshops, in-class presentations and events.
- Plans and coordinates all prevention activities in collaboration with the Wellbeing Education and Promotion team, and maintains relationships with other collaborative partners, providing education and guidance to member organizations, and working to develop primary prevention campaigns and initiatives.
- Researches, develops, and implements partner and sexual violence prevention approaches that focus on at-risk populations and other marginalized community groups.
- Collaborates with marketing and communication teams to develop printed and digital materials on sexual violence, partner violence, stalking and related topics.
- Provides content and recommendations for multiple social media outlets.
- Works directly with student leaders and relevant student organizations to engage students in conversations and programs related to the prevention of sexual violence and bystander intervention.
- Facilitates discussions and presentations related to fostering healthy concepts of masculinity, relationships, and sexuality.
- Assists in administration of an online educational program to be completed by all incoming first-year students.
- Develops strategic and operational plans that focus on primary prevention efforts for the campus community.
- Demonstrates research and best practices across the field of behavioral health.
- Coordinates, organizes, and maintains all records associated with sexual violence programs, trainings, and initiatives.
- Assists in the supervision of graduate students, interns, work-study students and/or staff members as assigned.
- Travels as required for training and professional development opportunities.
- Maintains privacy and confidentiality.
- Serves on task forces, committees, or teams to provide general advice and consulting, and to participate in prevention and awareness activities and programs.
- Evaluates prevention efforts on campus on a continuous basis and assists with assessment and annual reports for the prevention programs.
- Promotes safety and environmental protection by working in a safe manner; immediately reporting unsafe situations, spills, and accidents; following University safety plans/procedures/protocols; and participating in appropriate safety training.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelors Degree in a related field.
- One (1) year of related work experience.
- This position may require the ability to maintain the security and integrity of UT San Antonio and its infrastructure per Texas EO-GA-48.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master's in public health, social work, counseling, sociology, psychology, or related field.
- Prior professional work experience in a college or university setting.
- Prior professional work experience with or in advocacy of survivors of sexual assault or domestic violence
- Prior experience delivering content related to sexual violence, sexual health, and/or healthy relationships.
- Paid or volunteer experience in a rape crisis center, clinical setting or school setting
- Experience working with student organizations.
- Experience in applying motivational interviewing techniques.
- Training, academic or research experience in trauma-informed strategies, techniques, or practice.
- Training or certification as a victim advocate.
- Trained as a facilitator in curriculum-based training such as Green Dot, Bringing in the Bystander, Mental Health First Aid, Certified Peer Educator or other.
- Licensed in respective field of education, LMSW, CHES, MCHES
- Understanding undergraduate students' development issues, emerging needs, and interests.
- Working knowledge and experience in applied research.
- Supervisory experience
- Bilingual in English and Spanish

Working Conditions
- Office Environment. May require after hours and weekends for presentations, trainings, and campaigns on campus.
Physical Demands
- Sedentary work; sitting most of the time. Jobs are sedentary, if walking and standing are required, only occasionally. Exerts up to 10 lbs. of force occasional.
This position will work primarily on campus. Travel and parking expenses are the employee's responsibility.
