Are you passionate about improving the quality of life in your community? Community and Family Resources is seeking a dedicated Prevention Specialist to support tobacco prevention and cessation efforts through use of Quitline Iowa and My Life, My Quit across Humboldt, Kossuth, and Pocahontas counties through collaborative community partnerships.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Develop service goals and objectives in conjunction with the prevention team
Provide training and education to the public, community coalitions, area agencies, support groups, and schools regarding tobacco prevention
Collaborate with a variety of community partners to implement and promote tobacco prevention initiatives and tobacco-free policies.
Assist community coalitions in making environmental changes through recruitment, advocacy, and tobacco prevention efforts.
Promote and support tobacco cessation resources through promotion of Quitline Iowa and My Life My Quit.
Maintain strong public relations between the agency prevention project and community resources.
Provide consultation, coordination, and support to communities, task forces, school districts, and agencies, related to tobacco free and nicotine free policies.
Recruit and coordinate qualified volunteers and coalition members.
Complete documentation, reports, and grant-related activities in a timely manner.
Schedule:
Full-time position (40 hours per week).
Generally Monday-Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
Occasional evenings and weekends as needed.
Education and Experience Qualifications:
Minimum of an Associate Degree, Bachelor’s Degree preferred in Education, Community Health, Human Services, or related field required.
Two years of experience in education, training, public relations, or community activism OR three years of experience in a human service agency preferred.
Certified Prevention Specialist preferred or ability to obtain certification within 24 months of hire.
