SUMMARY

The Pricing Specialist (PS) is responsible for managing requests for quote (RFQ) activities in collaboration with Customer Service, Product Management, and Engineering teams as well as developing cost and pricing numbers for customer proposals and quotations.  The PS partners with cross-functional departments to obtain detailed cost and labor data when required and ensures all pricing activities comply with corporate Delegation of Authority and disbursement procedures.  

 

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

  • Manage the bid process for RFQ’s ensuring cross-functional collaboration to develop and submit accurate, competitive, winning bids.
  • Analyze and interpret customers’ technical data packages and specifications, evaluating compatibility with company capabilities to deliver informed product recommendations.
  • Support technical inquiries from the customer throughout the quotation process utilizing support from other teams such as Product Management, Applications Engineers, Sales, etc.
  • Collaborate with other Amphenol facilities to evaluate their capabilities and determine if a quotation would be more effectively handled by another location.
  • Determine sell pricing, often in collaboration with Product Management and Business Development Managers, while considering cost structure, competitive positioning and historical sales data.
  • Direct contact with the customer may occasionally be required.
  • Provide pricing intelligence on RFQs to ensure competitive, business-winning proposals.
  • Proactively manages RFQs to ensure best solution is identified and pursued to ensure maximum probability of bid success.
  • Assemble cost data and generate quotations and proposals for customers.
  • Monitor open quote report to ensure quotes are being submitted to customers in a timely manner, meeting expected customer deadlines.
  • As required, coordinate opportunities in applicable business tools.
  • Work with Sales Teams to ensure accurate pipeline and milestone reporting.
  • As needed, oversee proposals process for large opportunities, organizing meetings and cross-functional collaboration to ensure timely and complete submissions.
  • Analyze historical cost and pricing data to support competitive and informed decision-making.
  • Provide backup support to Customer Account Representatives as needed during employee absences and during peak workload periods.
  • Recommend enhancements to the quoting system to improve efficiency, accuracy, and overall effectiveness.
  • Complete price list updates and uploads as needed.
  • Manage contract pricing details, including adjustments (e.g., gold-based pricing changes).
  • Review and analyze margin reports, identifying trends and areas for improvement.
  • Own and manage weekly and monthly reporting on quote capture rate metrics, including conducting root cause and corrective action analyses as needed.
  • Attends and occasionally conducts daily quote review meetings with Product Management Team.
  • Maintain current knowledge of industry trends, market conditions, and competitor activity.
  • Drive performance against quote capture, turnaround time, and other assigned metrics.
  • Contributes to the company achieving its profitability metrics by adhering to the corporate margin policy
  • Update work instructions and internal processes as needed.
  • Other duties as required in support of the department and the company.

 

SUPERVISOR RESPONSIBILITIES

The responsibilities of this role do not include supervising other employees; however, Pricing Specialist positions offer opportunities for career advancement.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Engineering or related field or equivalent combination of education and relevant work experience.
  • 2-5 years of experience in the military/aerospace electrical/electronic field, including quotation development and customer relationship experience.

 

LANGUAGE REQUIREMENTS

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to effectively communicate with employees at all organizational levels.
  • Strong proficiency in English grammar, spelling, and business writing.
  • Ability to read, write, analyze, and interpret general business reports, procedures, and regulatory documents.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

As part of their job duties, the employee must sit for lengthy periods while frequently using their hands to handle objects and communicate verbally. Additionally, they may need to stand, walk, reach, and occasionally lift objects weighing up to twenty (20) pounds. This role requires specific vision abilities, including close, distance, color, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. PERSONAL PROTECTIVE EQUIPMENT REQUIREMENTS

  • ASTM F–2412–2005, ANSI Z41–1999, or ANSI Z41–1991 rated safety toe shoes in specific areas
  • Clear ANSI Z87.1 safety-rated glasses in specific areas
  • Hearing protection in specific locations
  • Ability to compile with JSA in specific areas
