Contract Length: 26 Weeks
Pay Range: $35 - $38/hr on W2*Pay offered is based on experience, expertise, credentialing, and education.
Duties: - Review and interpret patient medical records.
- Assign accurate ICD-10-CM and CPT-4 codes based on physician documentation.
- Primarily code complex:
- Ambulatory surgery cases
- Observation visits
- Special procedures
- Assist with outpatient ancillary, specialty clinic, and emergency department coding as needed.
- Abstract required information from medical records.
- Enter coding and abstracted information into the electronic health record.
- Submit physician queries when additional documentation or clarification is required.
- Collaborate with physicians and Clinical Documentation Specialists.
- Maintain a minimum 95% coding accuracy rate.
- Stay current with coding guidelines, documentation requirements, and regulatory changes.
Requirements: - 2+ years of current, full-time hospital outpatient coding experience.
- Strong experience with ambulatory surgery and observation coding.
- Experience with ICD-10-CM and CPT-4.
- Medical record abstracting experience.
- One of the following certifications required:
- Current AHIMA continuing education certification records required.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Strong communication and critical-thinking skills.
