Primary Care & Emergency Care Coder

We are seeking a skilled professional to provide guidance and support to our coding team. This role involves ensuring prompt coding and charge entry, assessing performance, and identifying training needs. You will play a key role in maintaining adherence to established policies and procedures and supporting disciplinary actions when necessary.

Responsibilities

• Provide guidance to coders regarding primary coding efforts and edit resolution.
• Confirm prompt resolution of outstanding charge session errors.
• Assess employee performance and adherence to policies.
• Identify additional training and education needs.
• Support disciplinary actions, when appropriate.

Definitions

• Charges Entered: Charges submitted for billing, including all patient types, services, financial classes, and statuses.
• Charge Sessions: Charges reviewed for edit resolution, including all patient types, services, financial classes, and statuses.
• Coders: Coder I, Coder II, and Coder positions in the Coding department conducting edit resolution on outstanding charge sessions.
