Primary Care Physician (Family Medicine / Internal Medicine) — Naval Health Clinic

Location: Naval Health Clinic, Lemoore, CA area
Schedule: Monday–Friday, 8.5 hours between 7:30 AM and 6:00 PM

Compensation

  • Pay Range (W2): $240,000.00 – $291,000.00 Annually
  • Pay Range (Hourly equivalent): $115/HR – $185/HR, based on employment option, qualifications, experience, and location
  • Max (1099 Rate): $185.00 Hourly

Practice Snapshot

  • Patient mix: This is a full-scope primary care clinic. We see the full spectrum of ages starting at newborn, for wellness, acute, and chronic conditions
  • Typical patient volume: ~20 patients per day
  • Appointment slots: Mix of 15–40 minutes (most 20 minutes), plus 10-minute virtual visits (mix of virtual, 24-hour, and future appointments)

What You'll Do

Core Duties:

  • Perform a full range of physician services in accordance with privileges granted by the MTF
  • Direct, perform, or assist in the instruction of other health care professionals within the scope of clinical privileges or responsibilities
  • Examine, diagnose, treat, or prescribe courses of treatment within the scope of training, experience, and privileges
  • Provide preventive and health maintenance care, including annual physicals, positive health behaviors, and self-care skills through education and counseling
  • Order diagnostic tests as applicable and request consultation or referral with appropriate physicians, clinics, or other health resources as indicated
  • Provide educational lectures and participate in in-service training for clinic staff, adhering to government and professional clinical standards and accepted clinical protocols

Duties — Specific: Provide primary care in a Medical Home Port and/or Fleet Centered Medical Home setting, including:

  • Perform primary care exams for neonatal to geriatric populations
  • Perform primary care and administrative exams, including Physical Readiness Test (PRT) waivers, Preventive Health Assessments (PHA), Sea Duty/Operational Screening exams, School and Sports physicals, Pap and well-woman exams
  • Initiate recommendations for Sick-in-Quarters (SIQ) and duty modifications for active-duty personnel in accordance with MTF instructions
  • Diagnose and treat urgent and non-urgent disease and injury across all body organs and systems, from neonatal to geriatric populations
  • Prescribe medications as indicated

Referrals:

  • Conduct all referrals in accordance with the MTF's policies and protocols
  • Document all referrals in the patient's medical record and in automated data systems used by the MTF, following MTF policies and procedures

Urgent & Emergent Care:

  • Respond to medical emergencies within the clinic until the Medical Officer of the Day arrives
  • Recognize patients who require care beyond the capability of the MTF, and arrange and coordinate emergent transportation to other medical facilities

What You'll Need — Mandatory Qualifications

  • Education: M.D. or D.O.
  • Experience: Minimum 3 years of experience in a Family Practice setting within the past 5 years, to include children
  • License: Active, unrestricted license to practice medicine in any state
  • Board Certification: Board eligibility required; board certification preferred. Certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine, the American Board of Family Practice, the American Osteopathic Board of Internal Medicine, or the American Osteopathic Board of Family Physicians
  • Life Support Certifications: BLS, ACLS, and PALS required
  • Security: Must be able to pass a government background check and obtain a government security clearance
