Position Summary

The Cage Cashier Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the casino cage, ensuring the accurate, secure, and efficient handling of cash, chips, tickets, vouchers, checks, and other monetary instruments. This position provides leadership to Cage Cashiers, ensures compliance with all gaming regulations and internal controls, safeguards company assets, and delivers exceptional guest service while maintaining the highest standards of operational integrity.

Key Responsibilities:

Cage Operations

  • Supervise and coordinate the day-to-day operations of the casino cage.
  • Ensure all cash, chips, tickets, vouchers, checks, and credit transactions are processed accurately, efficiently, and in accordance with established procedures.
  • Monitor cage activity to maintain appropriate cash inventories and staffing levels throughout each shift.
  • Oversee opening, closing, balancing, and reconciliation procedures for all cage banks.
  • Investigate and resolve cash variances, transaction discrepancies, and balancing issues in a timely manner.
  • Authorize transactions within designated approval limits and ensure proper documentation is maintained.
  • Maintain a secure and organized cage environment while protecting company assets.

Leadership & Team Development

  • Supervise, train, mentor, and motivate Cage Cashiers to ensure exceptional performance and service.
  • Prepare employee schedules and assign daily work responsibilities to support operational needs.
  • Conduct performance evaluations and provide ongoing coaching, feedback, and development opportunities.
  • Promote a positive, collaborative, and accountable work environment.
  • Address employee concerns, attendance issues, and performance matters in accordance with company policies.
  • Assist with recruiting, onboarding, and training new team members.

Compliance & Risk Management

  • Ensure compliance with all applicable gaming regulations, internal controls, company policies, Title 31, Anti-Money Laundering (AML) requirements, and other regulatory standards.
  • Verify and approve large cash transactions, jackpots, fills, credits, exchanges, and other transactions within authorized limits.
  • Monitor cage activities for suspicious transactions and report concerns to management and Compliance in accordance with regulatory requirements.
  • Maintain strict security procedures for cash handling, vault access, and asset protection.
  • Support internal and external audits, regulatory inspections, and compliance reviews.

Guest Service

  • Deliver exceptional guest service by responding promptly and professionally to guest inquiries and concerns.
  • Resolve transaction-related issues accurately and efficiently.
  • Assist VIP guests and high-volume transactions while maintaining confidentiality and security.
  • Foster a positive guest experience through professionalism, efficiency, and attention to detail.

Reporting & Administrative Responsibilities

  • Prepare, review, and maintain daily operational reports and supporting documentation.
  • Ensure accurate records of transactions, reconciliations, audits, and regulatory documentation are maintained.
  • Communicate operational concerns, staffing needs, and process improvement recommendations to management.
  • Assist with departmental audits, investigations, and financial reporting as required.

Qualifications:

Education

  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Associate or bachelor's degree in business, Finance, Hospitality Management, Accounting, or a related field preferred.

Experience

  • Minimum of two (2) years of experience in casino cage operations, cashiering, banking, or high-volume cash handling required.
  • Previous supervisory or leadership experience preferred.
  • Experience in a casino or gaming environment is strongly preferred.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Thorough knowledge of cash-handling procedures, balancing practices, and financial controls.
  • Working knowledge of gaming regulations, internal controls, Title 31, and Anti-Money Laundering (AML) requirements.
  • Strong leadership, coaching, and team development skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills with exceptional attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities.
  • Proficiency with casino management systems, cage operations software, and Microsoft Office applications.
  • Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise sound judgment when handling sensitive information.
  • Ability to remain calm and effective in a fast-paced, high-volume environment.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to stand and/or sit for extended periods during scheduled shifts.
  • Ability to lift, carry, and move cash, coin, and other materials weighing up to 25 pounds.
  • Ability to perform repetitive hand movements associated with counting currency and operating office equipment.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment while effectively managing multiple priorities.

Work Environment

  • Work is performed in a casino gaming environment with exposure to noise, crowds, secondhand smoke (where permitted), and frequent guest interaction.
  • Must be available to work flexible schedules, including days, evenings, nights, weekends, holidays, and overtime as business needs require.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain all licenses and work cards required by federal, state, local, and gaming regulatory agencies.
