Are you in? Primary Purpose:

This role will work at the intersection of policy, strategy, and execution to develop and manage innovative Distributed Energy Resources (DER) and battery storage programs. Represent BGE in various PSC-led workgroups related to DERs, Storage and policy strategy and advocate for sound policy decisions in deep collaboration with engineering and operational teams. Lead internal initiatives with cross-functional groups to support regulatory filings and proceedings to advance DER deployments that align customer value with grid needs.

 

Develop, manage, and evaluate innovative, high profile, complex projects/programs/initiatives related to DER Strategy, involving external policy stakeholders, implementation partners and coordination across multiple organizations from planning to post implementation phases as required. Develop business plans, project charters and performance metrics in support of business objectives and ensure organizational alignment at key decision points. Track and report progress on key business initiatives. This position will also maintain an on-going interface with various Exelon organizations in areas such as the execution of business processes, strategic initiatives, and management model implementation.

 

Position may be required to work extended hours for coverage during storms or other energy delivery emergencies.

Primary Duties:
  • Represent BGE in PSC-led workgroups related to DERs and Storage. Manage and report on project/initiative/ policy outcomes and assignments. Develop performance indicators and oversee, prepare, review, and analyze reports for strategic projects and initiatives. (50%)
  • Direct development and lead teams on strategic business initiatives, projects, and programs focused on DER Strategy. Manage scope, schedule, and budget for strategic high profile, complex organizational projects and programs. (30%)
  • Oversee the establishment of business plans, new programs and objectives across multiple areas / departments. Lead  business case development and prioritization of deliverables. (10%)
  • Drive the integration of best practices within the organization. Investigate best practices through benchmarking, and develop and execute work plans to support the integration of the functions and best practices identified. Maintain on-going interface with various Exelon organizations regarding the execution of business processes and strategic initiatives. (10%)

  • This is an individual contributor position that works independently with little or no supervision. The position requires integration of business knowledge and functional priorities to address complex problems and non-standard situations. The position regularly mentors less experienced colleagues.

  • Financial Scope:
  • Direct impact on budget is substantial: This position has a direct impact on the Company's performance regarding several key indicators and operational costs, System Average Interruption Frequency Index (SAIFI), Customer Average Interruption Duration Index (CAIDI) and Customer Satisfaction by managing scope, budget and schedule to within approved parameters, and providing structured and detailed reports to the appropriate Management team. Drives the development of strategic and reliability projects/programs/initiatives to ensure complete and successful implementation. Develops and tracks key milestones. Cost of failure would have a significant impact on Exelon reliability and financial goals.
  • This position is also key to maintaining the company's image and good standing with customers, regulators, and shareholders in regard to developing coordinating, and implementing high value strategic projects/programs/initiatives that have a direct link to either customer experience, reliability, or the bottom-line results of the organization.
  • Contacts:
  • This position requires interfacing across Exelon Corporation with various levels of personnel in Customer Operations, IT, Regional Operations, Distribution Operations, Transmission Operations, Corporate Security, Communications, Regulatory, and Legal, as well as with external organizations such as PJM, governmental agencies, industry associations, municipalities, and other utilities. The ability to influence and build relationships across the organization, into the work force, and among the leadership team is critical. Position will serve as a change agent in the organization.
  • Will regularly serve as lead for cross-functional and cross company teams responsible for the integration of best practices through the organization. Oversees the establishment of business plans and objectives for multiple areas / departments. Develops performance indicators and tracking mechanisms to monitor results.
Minimum Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree in a business or S.T.E.M. field with a minimum of 7-10 years relevant experience.
  • Advanced knowledge and understanding of applicable standards, methods, processes and practices, business fundamentals, and performance metrics in the specific functional area supported by this position (e.g., electric or gas operations, customer service, transmission and substation, distribution system operations, regulatory and external affairs).
  • Advanced proficiency in standard software applications (e.g., Microsoft Project, Visio, Excel, & PowerPoint), and relevant specialized business applications (e.g., project portfolio management, requirements/test management, CIS/CRM, customer self-service, telephony, EPS, EAM, work management, & outage management) to support business needs.
  • Demonstrated business acumen and ability to create value with advanced problem solving, financial/analytical, performance management, negotiation, and conflict management skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead a cross-functional team. Demonstrated ability to build consensus, establish trust, meet critical deadlines, communicate effectively, and foster culture change.
  • Customer driven with demonstrated excellent written and oral communication skills and ability to interact with people of all levels.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and implement process enhancements and efficiencies including new technology
  • In lieu of degree, 9-12 years of relevant experience.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • MBA or Master's degree in a business or S.T.E.M. field
  • Certification as : Certified Associate in Project Mgmt (CAPM) OR Project Management Professional (PMP) OR Six Sigma Black Belt
  • Advanced knowledge of the practices, procedures and principles of project management. Ability to analyze complex business processes and systems, interpret and recommend alternative courses of action, and implement intervention strategies to attain performance targets.
  • Expert analytical skills for project evaluation including analysis of complex projects with economic, financial, risk and decision analysis. Proficient in business case development and ability to effectively present business cases to business unit leadership.
