Position: Principal, Department of Academics, Supervisor, District

General Description

To carry out the mission RMA - Texas by directing and managing the instructional program and supervising general operations for the assigned school site. To provide leadership which will result in an instructional program that meets the needs of all students while operating at a high academic level.

Qualifications and Experience Requirements

A Masters Degree from an accredited college or university preferred. A strong major in education administration or curriculum/instruction with a working knowledge of academic and administrative use of computers. A valid state administrators certification preferred. A combination of at least ten years of successful experience as a classroom teacher and as a supervisor. A proven ability to relate to a variety of constituencies. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Demonstrated leadership and management ability. Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Corporate Board may deem appropriate.

Essential Performance Responsibilities

Instructional Management

• Monitor the blended instructional program by reviewing teacher lesson plans, observing classroom instruction on a weekly basis, conferencing with staff, and carefully analyzing assessment data related to student academic performance. • Provide educational leadership focused on improving student performance and program effectiveness. • Work closely with Central Office Directors and staff to plan, implement, and evaluate the blended curriculum on a systematic basis. • Ensure implementation of high performance program offerings that maximize student opportunities. • Implement and monitor utilization of Blended Learning and technology to improve student, staff, and administrative productivity. • Implement District curriculum and staff development in a timely and effective manner. • Supervise and develop the campus response to intervention (RTI) effort in a timely and meaningful way that advances student success.

School Organizational Climate

• Utilize metric data to ensure required student enrollment and attendance levels. • Initiate aggressively maintain and regularly assess programs to actively recruit students. • Project a supportive campus environment to assist in establishing and maintaining a positive teaching and learning experience. • Work collaboratively and constructively with central office personnel, other directors, and contractors. • Using metric data and other information, communicate with staff, students, and parents in a clear and effective manner, demonstrating skill in working with students, staff, and parents to successfully resolve conflict. • Develop activities that recognize and honor students, staff, and community volunteers for their service and accomplishments. • Develop, implement, communicate, and manage a student discipline plan that encourages and rewards positive student behavior. • Ensure compliance of school codes of conduct by enforcing disciplinary actions up to and including suspension and expulsion of students when warranted for the safe operation of a continuous supportive learning environment for all students and staff. • Monitor student attendance and devise and implement strategies that improve student attendance. • Provide leadership to all aspects of the school and its programs.

Personnel Management & Internal Communications

• Maintain regular and effective communication with the RMA Central Office and work closely with staff to develop a teamwork approach for increased efficiency and to insure compliance in all areas. • Effectively work with Human Resources to maintain approved staff levels by recruiting, selecting, compensating, orienting, training, and managing employees in compliance with state, federal, and district EEO and Fair Labor Standards Act. • Ensure all employee paperwork and personnel management reports are processed accurately and timely. • Regularly communicate and ensure staff compliance with all policies and procedures. • Define and communicate expectations for staff, including routine procedures, classroom management, instructional strategies, and communication with the public and individual contributions to positive staff morale. • Observe and document job performance, provide development, supervision, and conduct performance evaluation conferences with staff members.

Administration and Fiscal

• Effectively work with the Executive Director of Instructional Operations, Human Resources Manager, and Support Services Executive Director of Instructional Technology, Grants, and Expansion, and Central Office in administration, fiscal, facilities management areas, and real estate operations. • Implement campus annual budget based on program needs, estimated enrollment, staffing, and other fiscal demands, ensure programs are advanced within budget limits, maintain fiscal control accurately and responsibly, report fiscal information and adherence to established budget, and align expenditures in accordance with Grants Policies and Procedures where applicable. • Assist in the preparation and maintenance of accurate site budgets and financial records to ensure accurate and timely transmittal of funds and fees, assist with audits and quality control initiatives, and aggressively pursue creative, low-cost solutions to expense issues and comply with the district Material Management Policy. • Provide required reports for all school operations, including but not limited to enrollment, attendance, payroll, budgets. • Follow all Policy and Procedures for Contracts and Agreements, Time Cards, Accounts Payable, Petty Cash, and Inventory for opening and closing checklists in a timely, thorough, and accurate manner within mandated deadlines. • Manage the use of the school site, supervise the maintenance of the site to ensure a clean, orderly, and safe environment, which may also include adherence to transportation and lunch program guidelines as warranted by local and state authorized agencies. • Develop and maintain a physical security plan, including key control, emergency evacuations, and medical emergencies.

Community Relations

• Host, attend, and ensure proper, accurate minutes of any site Advisory Board meetings. • Ensure timely and accurate notification to parents of all school board meetings. • Promote a positive image of the school and reinforce that image by creating opportunities for parents and community members to visit the school as well as participating in volunteer work. • Demonstrate an awareness of the community-school needs while articulating and seeking community support for the schools mission within that community. • In compliance with the marketing plans, work with the Central Office in developing and implementing a plan to expand student participation in the site program. • Said plan should include initiating contacts and providing recommendations to expand the client base, as well as revisions to the schools programs and services, and assistance to be provided in presentations and conferences. • Make regular contact with a variety of community groups, including the local juvenile probation department, Department of Human Services, high school superintendents, principals, and counselors, to advance the RMA effort to be a resource for the cities where RMA campuses are located.

Professional Growth, Development, and Practices

• Engage in activities to improve leadership skills, utilize information and insights gained in professional development programs, and keep abreast of educational practices to identify and share ideas that will assist in providing your staff and students with appropriate and meaningful experiences. • Participate openly with staff, students, and the community to seek suggestions which will assist in a continuing program of self-improvement. • Be an appropriate role model by demonstrating professionalism and concern and respect for the dignity and human worth of staff, students, community members, and people in general. • Comply with and demand compliance from staff of all applicable state and federal statutes, local board policies, and administrative guidelines, and all appropriate code of ethics.

Normal Working Hours and Days
