Principal Application Software Engineer

Adheres to and improves execution of all phases of the application software development lifecycle; provides guidance and coaching to engineers to drive application-focused improvements. Utilizes advanced knowledge to develop and guide new application features and enhancements, leading design specifications, ensuring accessibility, and developing documents to clarify application design and code. Leads code reviews across multiple application areas to drive improvements. Conducts debugging and troubleshooting to identify and fix complex application issues. Develops fixes for identified issues. Troubleshoots and resolves complex issues related to application programming interface (API) functionality, integration, and service-to-service interactions. Implements and contributes to developing application software, systems, and services, ensuring review by manager and/or senior technical leaders upon completion. Recommends project or design scope for application components. Collaborates with stakeholders to understand customer use cases and align application solutions. May provide advanced technical guidance and support to customers regarding application-related issues. Collaborates with the team and externally to follow application development practices, secure coding standards, and code quality, providing coaching to less experienced team members. US: Hiring Range in USD from: $99,600 to $209,500 per annum. May be eligible for bonus and equity.

Basic Qualifications:

• BS or MS degree in Computer Science or relevant technical field involving coding or equivalent practical experience
• 6+ years of total experience in software development including the building scalable solutions and web applications
• Demonstrated ability to write great code using Java, GoLang, C#, or similar OO languages
• Proven ability to deliver products and experience with the full software development lifecycle
• Experience working on large-scale, highly distributed services infrastructure
• Experience working in an operational environment with mission-critical tier-one livesite servicing
• Systematic problem-solving approach, strong communication skills, a sense of ownership, and drive
• Experience designing architectures that demonstrate deep technical depth in one area, or span many products, to enable high availability, scalability, market-leading features and flexibility to meet future business demands

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience as technical lead on a large-scale applications and systems
• Hands-on experience developing and maintaining services on a public cloud platform (e.g., OCI, AWS, Azure)
• Experience working on Kubernetes
• Knowledge of Infrastructure as Code (IAC) languages, preferably Terraform
• Strong knowledge of databases (SQL and NoSQL)
• Strong knowledge of Computer Networking (OSI layers, HTTP, DNS, TCP/IP, DHCP, Routers, Gateways, Subnets, etc.)
