Our Federal Buildings sector group is seeking qualified candidates to support our growing practice. Principal Architect (Seller-Doer)
Position Title: Principal Architect
Experience: Minimum 25 years of architectural experience
Licensure: Registered Architect (RA) in the State of Washington; NCARB certification preferred
Leadership Experience: Minimum 5 years serving in a Principal Architect, Practice Leader, Office Leader, or equivalent senior leadership role
Reports To: Regional Business Leader / Sector Leader / Practice Leader
Work Location: Seattle, WA; Hybrid, minimum 3 days in the office.
Position Summary
The Principal Architect is a senior leader responsible for driving business growth, leading architectural operations, and ensuring the successful delivery of complex projects. This role functions as a seller-doer, balancing client development, strategic leadership, project oversight, and technical excellence. The Principal Architect serves as a trusted advisor to clients, develops high-performing teams, oversees project execution, and contributes to the overall profitability and growth of the practice.
The ideal candidate possesses extensive experience in architectural design, project delivery, staff leadership, business development, and operational management while maintaining strong client relationships and industry visibility.

Pay Range:
Pay Transparency: In compliance with pay transparency laws, pay ranges are provided for positions in locations where required. Please note, the final agreed upon compensation is based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location. At Stantec certain roles are bonus eligible. Actual compensation for part-time roles will be pro-rated based on the agreed number of working hours per week.
Benefits Summary: Regular full-time and part-time employees (working at least 20 hours per week) have access to medical, dental, and vision plans, a wellness program, health saving accounts, flexible spending accounts, 401(k) plan, employee stock purchase program, life and accidental death & dismemberment (AD&D) insurance, short-term/long-term disability plans, emergency travel benefits, tuition reimbursement, professional membership fee coverage and paid family leave. Regular full-time and part-time employees will receive ten paid holidays in each calendar year. In addition, employees will be eligible to accrue vacation between 10 and 20 days per year and eligible for paid sick leave (and if more generous, in accordance with state and local law).
